Interesting. I heard the one who broke the news was this guy. https://twitter.com/mangaalerts/status/1827455999713657062?s=46&t=FYPG4ZaNI78t0_jOMeqG5g https://twitter.com/mangaalerts/status/1827464723069333904?s=46&t=FYPG4ZaNI78t0_jOMeqG5g |

A little confused at what you mean, the publisher emailed ANN and it wasn't a secret panel where that account was the only one in attendance. Other people tweeted from that same panel. |

I’m just saying what I heard first and second hand. Supposedly the information was shared prior to the panel. There’s some discourse about this and the best I can do is leave you with this: https://twitter.com/mangaalerts/status/1827759248689803554?s=46&t=FYPG4ZaNI78t0_jOMeqG5g |

Essentially, Nakama Press put up a video on its YouTube channel a few days ago, prior to AnimeNYC even starting, that showcased all of the titles that have now been officially announced. More than likely, this video was meant to be private (& later made public after the announcements were made), but it was 100% public from the start, and as AnimeNYC was going on the video was discovered & shared with Manga Alerts, who made it widely known on social media. Hell, Manga Alerts even later that same day posted about Nakama giving out samplers at AnimeNYC, confirming the titles in an "official" manner. However, I'm sure Nakama Press didn't want it to be known that they messed up & (seemingly) accidentally made their video public days ago, so they likely asked ANN (who contacted Nakama for verification, after seeing Manga Alert's tweets) to source their verification, instead of sourcing Manga Alerts, because otherwise ANN would more than likely reveal that Manga Alerts originally got the news from Nakama Press' own YouTube video. In the end, it's all about first impressions, and Nakama Press messed up by having its first ever batch of licenses get revealed earlier than intended, so they did whatever damage control they could. |
