I thought we might get something along the lines of her alternate Maximum Impact outfit.

Kind of weird her trailer was shorter than the other character trailers.

They finally gave Mai a canonical new appearence that's quite different from her usual style, seems that SNK went for a sexy biker look, though Chizuru Kagura from The King of Fighters series is the one that's motorcyclning as a hobby, though she and Mai have been in the same team in KoF '98. Hope that this new look is her alternate costume in Street Fighter 6.

To be fair, most of the Maximum Impact alternate costumes don't look that great. I think Mai's new look could be inspired by some of her proposed alternate costumes from KoF XIV.

There is an old Shinkiro illustration of Mai in a casual biker jacket, although it looks nothing like this version. It may have been based on that, though.

I had this one in mind, which as I recall has always been well received.
Creatively different, but also recognizably Mai Shiranui.

I love how they showed all her classic designs with the exposed legs, then showed her new design with tight leather pants facing off against an opponent showing off her legs, and then realized what everyone wanted to see and showed her off in her classic outfit complete with as much thigh and butt you could ask for.

Minus the short hair which isn’t exactly a staple.

Mai's trailer clealry shows her changing to her traditional attire during one of her supers, not to mention that if Terry has his Fatal Fury 2 look as an alternate costume, Mai probably would also have her traditional look as well. Also, Mai's default appearence in Street Fighter 6 is her FF2 inspired look

Yeah I sure hope the “end is near” stuff was sarcasm.
Mai in virtually every game she’s appeared in within the last decade and a half has kept the same exact design with essentially the same exact outfit,

I know, hence why i said Default Mai. I just find making their iconic look a secondary costume or unlockable (or worse paid DLC) is just annoying and cowardly since it's being done now to cater to the FGC crowd. The whole SF5 ESPN debacle back in the day was why they did that with Cammy in SF6. And if the game is aiming for the FGC crowd, that means all the other bad stuff that comes with it like battle passes and other nonsense that KoF15 managed to avoid thankfully. I'm just noticing the early warning signs here is all.

Which I find to be a somewhat weird complaint given how many of these fighting games already have the problem of recycling rosters & with some even recycling character themes. Having them wear the same exact costumes that are decades old even with them being iconic is just another part of the “recycling” effect.
All the same they’re not “catering” to anyone by not having Mai’s KOF costume not be showcased more in the trailer. By this logic what was the reasoning behind B.Jenet’s trailer showcasing her in her original MOTW outfit with a seemingly bigger chest with cleavage?

Did what with her?
Gave her a new default outfit which every returning character got.
Especially as Cammy last got a new outfit back during the 1990’s.

As expected that Mai's outfit would change in 2024. I knew Mai's outfit change was coming when each year we move further into the era of censorship that heavily started several years ago with no sign of returning to the past. And just when you thought Mai's classic outfit was a separate outfit for players to have an "option", something publishers/devs refuse to give because they want to oppress with censorship, Mai's classic outfit has been revealed to be a transformation in an interview. And so it begins.
