Doesn't matter if Monkey Punch did it first, Takahashi Rumiko's manga is the better known one and the one they were thinking of.

I think it's about time for some REAL science, and someone come up with some recombinant DNA sequence we use to make all humans born both male and female. Would solve all our problems with sex inequality, homophobia, transphobia, who can play on what sports team, etc.

There is a lot yet to discover. There are plenty of places such as remote locations, developing countries, and the seas that have plenty of unrecorded new species waiting for scientists to find or in some cases simply notice them.

Or people could just stop discriminating. That seems a little easier than making designer embryos.

Thanks but no thanks. I'm rather happy to be the male I was born as.

Last time I checked we discovered new species of birds and lizards in the last few years.

There's a whole lot of ethical concerns with genetically engineering human beings.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of a hypothetical scenario like in Divergent where basically the majority of the human race and the world governments agree to progressively replace humanity with a new type of human or society (to hopefully solve the problems that have plagued us in the past). In the case I propose, one entirely comprised of individuals who are both sexes. What would that look like?

So you meant a science fiction scenario. Have you read The Left Hand of Darkness?
