Maybe at Otakon, we're going to have some news, and maybe some dub casts for Frontier and/or Delta.

EDIT: Just so you know, they're now also streaming in Australia.

Good lord, I hope that after all that fuss we had for decades, it finally gets resolved, only for Disney to not bother with a US release.

I was checking out Frontiers earlier, original audio track only. And given how low profile the release was, they didn't even put it under new to Disney+, a dub seems unlikely for the forgeable future.

I was thinking about the fact there is no dub yet, but Big West could surprise us at Otakon.

I would love to be wrong, but I doubt a dub is in the cards. I can't find the source now but I remember reading there wasn't going to be one as of when Nozomi licensed the shows for bluray. Still, I'm holding out a little hope that the Disney deal and the strong demand for II's dub can sway Big West...

I am only a fan of Super Dimension Fortress Macross/ Robotech. I know Robotech is on Blu Ray, but I’d love SDFM as well as the Movie and 2012 Flashback. It would be nice at least to see them on Disney+!

I think Flashback is included in the deal, but it was explicitly said the original show and DYRL were not included, presumably because of Harmony Gold stuff.

Does this release have the standard Disney English subtitle track with CC pointlessly added or is it just the industry standard translation track?

You’d think if there was anyone that could afford to pony up the cash for a dub, it would be Disney. Nozomi I can understand, Disney no. Maybe for the US release.

Disney doesn't own Macross. They're merely acting as streaming distributors for Big West and most likely Big West has zero interest in commissioning a dub.

Distributors commission dubs all the time, including streamers. Netflix certainly does it (in the US and overseas). Anytime someone “licenses” a property to distribute, they’re the ones that commission the dubs 9 times out of 10, not the Japanese owners.

But Nozomi owns the rights to these shows in the US and not Disney and they didn't announce a dub for any of the Macross titles they licensed. If a dub was going to happen Nozomi would have announced it. Given Macross' history in English, it shouldn't be that surprising that Big West might not want a dub.

All the anime on Disney+ Philippines have CC-style English subtitles. Currently watching Macross Delta. Presumably they use the same subtitles worldwide.
