Eva is one of those things that is probably too big to truly be "done" with it, even if Anno, himself, is done. Then again, I think a big reason why the last movie stuck the landing for me was in major part to having the same person overseeing it throughout.

He and Cameron really don't need the money.

Wonder if this hints at interest in an anime adaptations of some of their alternative works, such as the LN series Neon Genesis Evangelion: Anima.
Of course this could just mean we're going to get more Petit Eva. |

No matter what, I hope Anno is truly done with Eva. The final Rebuild film was the strongest and felt like his real farewell to the franchise. I don't think he should become like Miyazaki.
Anima was my first thought as well. The novels are already popular enough to be getting figures. |

Ha, I was just gonna make the joke that Anno's gunning for Miyazaki's "no, I'm done for real... never mind, one more" title. |

The plan has been for a long, long time for other people to take over Eva with their own versions of the story, so this shouldn't be news to anyone. Anno's comparison was to Tomino Gundam vs. Gundam AUs.

I would not be opposed to more Eva anime because its universe is full of potential. I will forever be grateful to Anno, but I would love other people to handle it.

Of course they would make more of it even if the original creator is done with it, it is just to big of a franchise to be let go off.
The last movie pretty much opened up a whole multiverse so even if the original story is done, they have way more stuff to explore. It will never be over. |

Adaptation of the manga, please. It’s very different from the anime, and fleshes out the characters further.

Have no fear they've got stories for years.
Like Asuka becomes a robot Maybe Rei gets a cell phone Has Shinji ever owned a penguin? How about a crazy wedding where something happens and doo doo doo doo... |

It's probably too much of a cash cow to permanently bench yet at the same time I don't think it'll be the same without Anno.
Though adapting spinoffs or supplementary material might work. |

I'm aware this won't happen, but adaptations for the Re-Take, Angelic Days, and/or Campus Apocalypse manga would be exciting.
