Well this one came out of left field.
Not that I'm complaining, but uh... wow. That's surprising.

Oh. I didn't know there was a sequel manga starting. So I guess it isn't completely random.

Huh, I figured this was long past its shot at getting an adaptation, but I'll gladly take it.

Well, this is unexpected. Wonder if they'll go whole hog like berserk or censor the shit out of it

Yeah.... So remember like a few weeks ago when I said it was surprising that this never got an anime?

Now this is something I never expected back when it was being published next to vinland saga and often compared to berserk, but given the changing of anime trends today and the legacy of kentarou meiru with the impact that it left behind for dark fantasy's such as Kazushi Hagiwara's bastard!! being adapted, you know eventually they just had to give this one a shot.

I remember long time ago when I read some of the Ubel Blatt manga I thought this was one of those titles that would never get an anime adaptation because of something about the content - weird artstyle, brutal story, objectionable content... too much blood, death or sex.
But nowadays it kinda makes sense since there's been all sorts of adaptations of manga that I thought would never get adapted. More recently Chainsaw Man, No Guns Life, Dorohedoro, Hell's Paradise, Goblin Slayer and some others. A bunch of survival game stories too.
Then again, this might be a case of just me thinking that certain content would never be adapted... you actually have some brutal stuff or objectionable content going from manga to anime with a certain frequency. xD
I remember also being surprised when Parasyte and 7 Seeds got adapted. I think I also started reading Attack on Titan before the anime came around, and thought it wouldn't be adapted because of all the death and blood.
I think I also thought Gantz would never become an anime too... xD Yeah, it's a recurring pattern I guess.

Let's go!!!! Ubel GOATT is getting an adaptation. I never expected it, especially in this modern era that has "issues". Obviously, this should air at midnight or later. I know the TV version is going to be censored. If you are doing this, there should be a director's cut on the home release. Ain't no way you finally decide to adapt this with the intention of screwing it up. Anywho, I'm still waiting on the Gantz anime remake. Even Oku wants it to be fully adapted uncensored.

IIRC, Parasyte was stuck in some kind of licensing hell for decades, as for 7 Seeds, well... That adaptation sure is... something...

If this dreck gets a more coherent adaption than Berserk got since 1997 then it´s official Joever. No more excuses for what kept going wrong.

Wonder if Yen Press will put vols back in print now, it already goes for ridiculous prices second hand.
As for the series, I just think it's pretty much average. Like, if you're gonna read a dark fantasy and haven't already read Berserk, Vinland Saga, Claymore, Shin Angyo Onshi, Dorohedoro, Petshop of Horrors, Hellsing, Tokyo Ghoul, Made in Abyss, Parasyte, Kingdom, or Battle Angel Alita, then yeah, Ubel Blatt's a solid read.

I've read this manga...it is not great. Any comparisons to Berserk are honestly overstated...and insulting to Berserk. Why this is getting an adaptation is beyond me.

Maybe because someone among staff enjoyed reading it, and thought it would be nice to animate it.

Also, there's a literal sequel manga coming out, and adapting the first one will help advertise it. Far from the first time such a thing has happened before.
