Having Manga Plus, legally, for free, every week, makes me hard to understand why some people needs WSJ scans.

Everyone has different financial situations, but it is also only $2.99 a month. And that price has only gone up once(by $1) since the service started in 2018. It is the best set up and value, maybe in the industry, since with most other current services you pay by the chapter or purchase "keys" to "unlock" chapters with. Personally, even though I pay for multiple services including those above, I still read the early leaks and translations, which in many cases are more accurate. I also agree that if they just did away with the physical WSJ and only released online, this whole issue would likely resolve. |

Here, let me share my privilege of a free legal app And yet, if you want to have more than three chapters (the default) then you're asking for a privilege, since, as far as I know, reading WSJ is not a Universal Human Right. |

I assume the magazines would take issue with that. |

...Surely I'm not the only one who keeps reading "WSJ" as Wall Street Journal, right? Takes my brain a full 15 seconds each time I see it to make the correct translation to Weekly Shounen Jump.

I'm not sure I see the relevance of identifying the suspects arrested as foreigners. If there is some need to specify those arrested are not Japanese citizens isn't there a less... old-fashioned? - term that could be used? Although, again, I'm not sure I see the need to specify at all.

@Blood-
Haven't you noticed, in these news releases, they always characterize "suspects" with some one word identifier. Employed, unemployed, college student, stuff like that. In this case I think "foreigner" was the most significant identifier and they went with that. Of course it could be xenophobia. |

Just to be clear, I'm not surprised that NHK News Web (the original source of the report) would identify the suspects as "foreigners", I'm trying to figure out why ANN would preserve that wording in its headline.

But then people would ask why they purposely omitted that fact of the story. Danged if you do, danged if you don't. |

What are the chances the 2 foreigners frequent ANN and see all the articles about illegal manga postings then still decided to do what they did? Either way, I've seen so much of these articles caused by actual Japanese natives that I've considered them dumb for even doing it. Now foreigners? If there was ever a moment, it is this: "Baka gaijin!".

Obviously I cannot speak to the mentality of those involved in this case, or any others... but I can say that I've noticed a pattern where people tend to be less-respectful of the laws of nations they're only visiting. I guess they seem somehow less "real" to them.
Like if you've ever had the misfortune to be around a tourist who reacted to, "Oh no, this person I'm interacting with doesn't seem to understand English very well/at all, I'd better start shouting at them like they're slow.." Well, it's kind of like that. |

volumes make a lot of money even though they are released at least months later. |
