Will AoA be getting this one too, though?

Good question
Aniplex had a smaller role in the first film but Toei Animation was it's licensor (as credited as such on European releases) so will they be back for this one and will AoA care enough to want to get it? IIRC, the first film took a long time to go OOP.

The original film is pretty hard to find now, hopefully this will change that.

Wow I didn't expect a sequel for Expelled From Paradise, remember I saw te movie at the theater like 8 years ago (damn, is 2016 really that long ago?) without knowing much of Urobuchi's works (I believe by then I only had watched Fate/Zero) but I liked it, the story, the setting, character designs, overall a good experience. I hope the sequel gets released here too.

Wow so it is a sequel after all. A major surprise indeed.
It is surprising cause usually these type of original movie projects rarely if ever get a direct sequal. Normally it would be one original movie project and than move to a new project even if the previus work was a success.
This must have been truly a major a succes. Which is great as this is one of my fav sci fi mech stories and are becoming more of a rarity these days if it is not a gundam project.
Cant wait to see it. Those who have not watched the first. I encourage to do as well. It is a great watch.

didn't expect they would want to make a sequel since the original is pretty much standalone story, my only gripe is the 3DCG used for the animation since some scenes as i remember didn't blend well especially Angela's hair looking like a spaghetti sometimes.
