Moe ruined the industry. 25 years ago female main characters in sci-fi/fantasy anime looked (and acted) like this:

https://hero.fandom.com/wiki/Birdy_Cephon_Altera

And this was considered to be a younger, more innocent type of character:

https://hero.fandom.com/wiki/Ayeka

Ah well. Those days are never coming back.

Can we please bring back more 2000s seiyu stars to voice main characters while they still sound younge enough?

Not sure what this at all has to do with the article you're responding to, but Ayeka wasn't a "younger, more innocent type of character" even back in Tenchi Muyo's heyday. Those were just airs she put on to disguise that she was nearly as demonic as Ryoko. Sasami would have been a much better example, and she's not that much different from equivalent characters these days.

Kana Hanazawa seems appropriate for Sylphy given she voiced characters like Plutia/Iris Heart. spoiler[Sylphy has a giant form, a childish form, and adult form. The atmosphere of the character feels like it changes depending on her form, even if it's only just the vibe she gives off.]

I was referring to the "valkryie" looking, acting and sounding like an elementary school student: https://youtu.be/W7rH4xMsJH4?t=21

Ayeka's character design was supposed to contrast with Ryoko. But both subverted their character designs with neither Ryoko being as evil or Ayeka as good as their appearances. As for Sasami more subversion still: physically 8 but in many respects more responsible and mature than the physically older haremettes.

I agree that Sasami isn't much different from equivalent characters these days, but the issue is that characters like valkryie above look and sound like they are 8, or at best 10.

Okay, that post made the point you were making clearer, though I still think Ayeka is a bad example for the comparison you were trying to make.

As for this particular point, don't see why this is a problem since the show seems to be going for a cutesy angle. Most sci fi and fantasy shows still focus on mid-teen or older characters.

To you, what age would be the cut-off to sound young enough?

It's difficult to say, aging doesn't work the same for everyone.

But my point is, time waits for no one.
