Is it just me, or did Cera's voice change, at some point? I haven't seen him in anything since Molly's Game (2017), but I'm pretty sure he sounded like his borderline puberty self in that, which is what I've always thought he sounded like since Superbad (2008).

Seems to be doing a voice that is distinctly different from his movie performance.

Is it still anime if the animation is being outsourced and the production and showrunners are not from Japan?

No, but anime is just a marketing term now to mean an animated series aimed at an older audience as far as Netflix is concerned.

I wonder if Scott Pilgrim will take a story approach similar to Death Note. The endings for the original manga, the anime, and Japanese live-action film all had their own unique finales.

No, but Netflix will pretend that's the case. See their terrible anime documentary that was just an ad for Castlevania and the like. |

Nice! I hope they show a clip of a fight scene next. One that wasn't in the live-action movie. Like Scott vs Knives' dad. I hope that makes it into the series.

Okay, sooo...I gotta point out two things here. For everyone who has axes to grind, and arguments to make:
1-Not a single thing in today's stream, or showcase, or whatever, did Netflix, or the individual series creators, identify, or christen, as an "anime." The words of choice were always simply "animated series" or "animation." Various websites, including ANN, have simply chosen to call them that. Hence, it's on the sites reporting and reposting. Whoops. 2-The lead animation studio for Scott Pilgrim is Science Saru, which in fact, is a Japanese anime studio, which does actually make this an anime. Double whoops. Now it does have some of the legwork being outsourced to UCP and other smaller joints. But then again, 98% of today's anime is outsourced to Chinese and South Korean studios, so if you're looking for stuff that is made exclusively in Japan, that stopped existing years ago. I know everyone loves a good old fashioned Netflix hate-wank. They can be fun! But don't put stuff on them when it's not on them. |

I've seen the JP version of the clip and it seems they've cast Hiro Shimono as Scott's voice, which is fitting.

Netflix lists this and many other "animations" under "Netflix Anime" on X/Twitter. They have even gone as far as to call Scott Pilgrim anime: https://twitter.com/NetflixAnime/status/1641440152567545859?cxt=HHwWhoDQ3efHyMctAAAA |

I was amused that Ramona has moved from Amazon delivery to Netflix DVD delivery in the clip.

It's cool that they got the movie cast back but the voice acting doesn't feel as on-point as I was expecting, though it got a little better.
Looking forward to seeing the more action-heavy sequences. |

The first teaser clip being focused on netflix DVD service being shown merely days before said service is ending is certainly meta.

Did Hiro Shimono dub Michael Cera in the Versus the World movie? I don't know if in other languages the characters are dubbed by the same actors who worked in the dub, but in the Latin American Spanish dub they did that, it's pretty great hearing Moisés Iván Mora as Scott again, he did a great job in the live-action movie dub, but here he sounds even more natural in my opinion. |

What the hell is a “Netflix delivery person!?” Isn’t that just a regular postal worker? Does this take place in a world where Netflix became a dystopian ubiquitous corporate mail service bigger then most governments like our real life Amazon? |
