I would like to exaggerate and proclaim “who still pays for Netflix?” But I know people who still are and will continue to do so. No judgement toward them. But personally, wow am I glad I jumped off this wreck of a steaming platform.

The problem that I have with this policy change is that it complicates the use of Netflix while traveling. I already had to make special arrangements with my phone service when I visited Europe for a week last month; now I'll have to do that for Netflix, too, even if I'm using the same laptop for it that I would use at home?
Fortunately, I don't commonly take trips long enough that laying off of Netflix while on the trip is a problem, but still. |

First they crackdown on sharing accounts, and then they remove the plan for a single stream? They're going to force people to pay extra for streams they can't use or force them to both pay and watch ads... dick move.

And of course they're making the consumer pay for it rather than, you know, just get their absurd budgets under control. |

When I moved to America for first time back in 1978 cable cost me $9.99 a month and there were NO COMMERCIALS. Cable televisions entire sales pitch was commercial free viewing experience. Nutflicks like all technology companies value growth all costs over total revenue. Now Nutflicks hit terminal market saturation there is no where to go but down. Just wait instead of paying $200 month for cable TV you will nickeled and dimed death with steaming costs plus internet service.

We're pretty much there already. To not miss any anime, you'll need Crunchyroll, Hidive, Hulu, Disney+, Amazon, and Netflix. Probably over $100 per month, just to cover one specific genre. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss... |

Nope, Disney+ and Amazon aren't needed for this. HIDIVE's still pretty cheap, so I think I'm paying around $45 total for the other four. (And I only have Hulu+ when they're airing an anime I want to see, so in most months that's in the low $30s.) |

Cable originated to provide over the air broadcast channels to locations that had problems with reception, so it absolutely had commercials from its origin in 1948 (in the US). HBO was the first nationwide commercial free cable channel, and was not normally included in one's cable subscription. It certainly was not when I first got cable in 1978, and it had plenty of ad-supported channels. In fact, I don't recall having a single non-premium (extra cost) channel that didn't have them. |

One does not need to subscribe to ever service every month. I only subscribe to Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ when they have things I want to watch. As an example, I had last subscribed to Netflix back in March, Disney+ back in December, and Hulu way back in March 2021 (time to subscribe to them again). When was the last time Amazon even had an anime simulcast? |
