i>This may contain spoilers for SSSS Gridman.</i>
I just discovered something in the closing credits of Gridman that looks like a confirmation of a fan theory related to the series.
The last few frames show a live action background of a bridge with an animated character leaning against the railing. She has dark hair and at first glance would lead you to believe this is Rikka Takarada. Her clothing however is purple, more reminiscent of the color schemes that are used for Akane Shinjo. The next frames show a close up of the girls face and it is difficult to tell with the credits rolling over the image but she does not look like either character to me.
This leads me to believe in the theory that Akane is an actual person IRL and the story of Gridman takes place in her dreams. A theory strongly supported by the live action sequence that appears at the end of the final episode.
My observation regarding the images in the closing sequence are surely not the first ones to be made regarding this topic, however this was something that I discovered myself and drawing those lines to a beloved series like this was such a rush for me.
Are there any easter eggs in any of your favorite series, either discovered by you or the community at large that you really enjoy?
Have you watched Gridman and picked up on this same egg yourself?
Looking forward to watching the second season and movie, hope they contain more of the same.

Without a doubt, Love Is Indivisible by Twins is one of the most realistic and relatable depiction of twin relationships I've ever encountered. However, it's mired up in an uninteresting plot and an unbelievable love triangle.― The way twins are represented in the media is frustrating. They're treated as creepy at worst, a single unit at best, and more often than not, a gimmicky curiosity. Although ...
This is a perfect film.― Hey everybody, how is 2025 treating you so far? It's been a damn cold January here in the PNW, which is having a direct negative effect on my ability to follow through on my resolution for the year (i.e., go outside, Lynzee). Instead, I'm huddled next to the fireplace with at least three blankets at all times. What can you do? I had a hard time committing to an anime for th...
Where are the Ninja Gaiden and Dino Crisis fans at? Brand-new games are on the way! Jean-Karlo looks at the Xbox Developer Direct and a major shake-up at Sony.― Welcome back, folks! It's been a dumpster fire of a week, but I'm taking joy in what I can. For one thing, the Pyra and Mythra amiibo are finally getting re-released! Make sure to pre-order those in a hurry. Maybe I can beat Xenoblade 3 befo...
The main Dragon Ball story has been continuing across various anime TV series, movies, specials, and OVAs for nearly 40 years now. Here's when each takes place.― Dragon Ball is a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon—to the point that calling it one of the most popular anime of all time feels like an understatement. From the first episode of the original series to today, there have been hundreds of epis...
Even questionable execution can’t rob the plot of its key point: Oriana’s desperation to save Vincent’s life.― Time loops are fickle things. As any reader of the isekai subgenre can tell you, most of them only grant memories to the person doing the looping – as far as everyone else knows, they're living their lives for the first time. For Oriana, the heroine of Re-Living My Life with a Boyfriend Who...
Even if you’re not a Sanrio fan, it’s easy to get pulled into the gentle world of the game, and if you enjoy the cozy exploration experience, this is a good choice, no matter what your age.― Traveling to a tropical island resort is the dream of the winter months for many people living in colder climates, and Hello Kitty Island Adventure is very well aware of that. The story invites players to join H...

It doesn't look as bad as Return of the Prince—however, that is an incredibly low bar to set and damning with faint praise more than anything else.― Workshop Battle is a major step up from Return of the Prince. It is a far more focused story with an understandable core conflict. Bam is trying to keep everyone he cares about safe at his own expense. At the same time, his new friends and Khun are putt...
I think part of the reason that D.Gray-man, as a series, stood out to so many people is that it used death as an overarching aesthetic and theme.― There are plenty of things that a lot of long-running shonen series have in common, from over-the-top fights to themes of friendship and perseverance. One common complaint often thrown at some of the bigger shounen series is the lack of permanence and wei...

If you want something a little less spicy and a little bit more wholesome, there’s plenty here to make your heart flutter as a smile creeps across your face.― I've never been to Japan, so I can't comment on how its society at large views same-sex relationships. But there seems to be a consistent theme in these stories where people never seem to entertain the notion that two guys could be romanticall...
