Did one more round of graphical summaries; only the second, but should be the last one, since it looks like the Preview Guide is wrapping up. Haven't checked these carefully, but here's the list of changes, which I think all worked:
- added grid lines to the two strip plots - used 0.00001 (not quite 0 just due to a coding inelegance) or something to that effect for meme scores, rather than -20 - sorted strip plots by median Show score - added first-episode Community Score as a 'reviewer'. Included graphs w/ and without this Using smaller thumbnails this time, since I think you basically have to click through to read the images anyway: Median Scores bar plots (w/, without Community Score): Original size: https://imgur.com/fXSuFVf.png Original size: https://imgur.com/unNccVK.png All Scores by Show, Points Only (w/, without Community Score) (strip plots): Original size: https://imgur.com/Td4HS7r.png Original size: https://imgur.com/On2hDkW.png All Scores by Show, Boxes (w/, without Community Score) (strip+box plots): Original size: https://imgur.com/7xLV9DO.png Original size: https://imgur.com/RX8lHa0.png Reviewer Scores (w/, without Community Score) (swarm plots): Original size: https://imgur.com/1YP1dOz.png Original size: https://imgur.com/8IarOAk.png Last edited by NeverConvex on Sat Apr 15, 2023 9:06 am; edited 1 time in total |

Will ANN still do a preview guide review for Sacrificial Princess as that doesn't air till next week?

I'm hoping Dead Mount Death Play gets voted in for episode reviews, and that it goes to one of the writers who definitely don't know where that series is going. Seeing someone react to it would be a fun time.
I'm also rooting for Sacrificial Princess and the King of Beasts. I'm sure the late start will hurt its chances, but shoujo fantasy anime aren't exactly a dime a dozen. Having a completed manga to draw on is also a point in its favor, imo. |

So, in the end, I went with G-Witch - which was crazy good this week -, Skip and Loafer and maybe Kuma Kuma Bear S2. I think I'll skip on Oshi no Ko for now, the manga is plenty enough, but I'm interested in other people's reactions, especially about Kana. Insomniacs didn't convince me at all, the story is fine, but as an anime, it's a passable adaptation (which is usually the case with Liden), which is not enough for me, so I think I'll read the manga instead. I have yet to watch U149 and Heavenly Delusion though, both are on my list.

First episode of Dead Mount Death Dead Death seemed like it had potential but the transition from “all lives are my playthings” to spoiler[orphanage-running friendly neighbourhood boneslinger working for the benevolent psychotic assassin society] was kind of abrupt (plus the limited powers in the real world seemingly going out the window). Apart from two OK jokes and one interesting idea with raising the spoiler[parents] the second episode was just bad imho.

So even the late Beast King got in the preview guide, but Uma Musume is nowhere. Fantastic!

It’s listed with 24 episodes. I can’t help but think that it’ll end up the same way as the Requiem of the Rose King. Pity it aired so late in the season. Would have tuned in for weekly reviews (though I doubt many would have voted for this even if it aired earlier… |

That's my fear, too. But I stuck with that and I'll probably stick with this, too, because I really love the source material. |

I hope it will be at least a little better than that, since the source material is two volumes shorter and I think it could hold up to cutting better than Rose King did. Rose King can also be a pretty dense manga, with significant spans of time passing in a flash and an often loose sense of place. And at least Sacrificial Princess seems to promise a much better looking adaptation than Rose King got. |

It's a four-episode ONA. It'll get a regular review when it's done airing. |

The first thing that came to mind as I watched Sacrificial Princess, is "This would be like Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle without the sleep antics and if the romance route is explored in earnest", and I'm absolutely down for that (But apparently, Sacrificial Princess came before Sleepy Princess so neither seems to have taken inspiration from the other).
Anyway, I thoroughly enjoyed the premiere so I'll add this one to my list. |

Nice to see SPatKoB in there. It's a shame no one has licensed Ao no Orchestra yet. I've also heard rumors that Me & Roboco is coming to Netflix soon.
