That's really sad. But at least it lived a long life.

Can't call just less than 2 years of service a LONG time though, even for gacha - because this is not the OG SideM, which Bamco also closed earlier.

Compared to some recent gacha closing down few months in, 2 years becomes a long time tbh.

Growing Stars isn't OG SideM, it launched in October 2021. The OG (which was 2014 one) got EoS this January.

The game has been doing very well. I have no idea why they'd do this other than the fact Bamco has always treated SideM like garbage.

It’s not doing very well, it’s earning less than half per month than Cinderella, according to sales charts.
And with the development costs and running costs of TWO games, I can’t imagine they could get out of the pit.

The other iM@S branches also don't earn nearly as much as Deresute, its popularity is sort of an anomaly. SideM for as niche as it is consistently ranks in the top 5 earning joseimuke apps and the 7th live sold out in seconds (other branches have never had sold out concerts). And it does better than Mirishita, which doesn't seem to be in any danger.

Of course it will never do as well as Deresute, but comparitively, its sales are low, and again, when you think about the running cost and development costs of two games, it probably seemed best to cut their losses. A game like Side M's development and running costs are unimaginable.

Million Live has an anime this year, and it would look bad to end it beforehand. It's also the last remaining social game with the original 13 idols.

Side M has been pretty successful with live events, and I'm guessing that's where they want to put their energy.

Oh no! A generic boy spinoff's generic game is about to die soon. All the horror!!!

Anyway..... The main series which is about girls is A-Ok and it should have been all about the girls since the beginning. Too bad the producer thing is still alive.

lmfao this is such a shallow, uneducated, and insecure take so far. I'm not surprised you only knew about im@s for like what 1 to 2 years or maybe never at all.

Anyway.....the series still lives only the game is ending. With its increasing popularity, how it manages to gain fanbase from female AND male audiences, and also being well received for helping a lot of japan local business by collabing with them. SideM won't die out.

Probably the scariest thing for you is that....the males are still going to collab with the girls www

Not to mention tons of fans of the other branches on both sides of the Pacific are standing in solidarity with SideM fans. Many have even stopped spending money on the series. ALL branches are probably going to suffer.

The copium here is so amazing. Maybe Bandai Namco and everyone who has a brain are finally realizing that this SideM thing just isn't worth it. If it actually has "fans" and "audience", then the game would have never died. Perhaps it's their fault for letting this happen.

Pandering to everyone isn't always the best thing. Otherwise, the otaku/idol culture would have died decades ago and Idolmaster would have never even born. It's good that Bandai Namco is now putting more attention on the main and superior part (the girl groups) that put them on the map. Now it would be so awesome if they drop the Producer-san part or at least create a canon female Producer-san for female players and yuri players to enjoy.

Quite frankly, Idolmaster would have been so much better if it was all females since its birth. No Producer-san (who is always male), no SideM male idol spin-off, or no male idols of any kind at all. Besides, the idea of a boy series getting a girl spin-off is almost non-existent especially in Japan. Whereas the inverse is alive. That's pretty insulting if you ask me.

LOL yeah this kind of take that makes you look uneducated af. You know absolutely nothing about its history and impact to it. Simply hating it because it's 'male' and they interract with the girls while closing your eyes and ears to everything beyond it.

Is it such a threat to you that these boys just existing and having fun with the people who support them ?

Idk if you live on a cave or something but the fans, local business they're collabing, seiyuus who had roles in it expressing their love and support for this series you thought little of that had already exists for nearly 9 years now.... and it will still going on

and again, only the game is ending not the series....i hope you continue fearing for this series existence in the long run

Darn it...Always sad to see a joseimuke game shut down. I'm glad that games like Ensemble Stars and Twisted Wonderland are still around. (As well as games like YumeKuro, AkuNeko and MahoYaku on the Japanese-only side of gacha)
I realize that joseimuke games don't make as much as waifu games usually, but I personally know a ton of people who whale on joseimuke games and joseimuke game fans tend to be really devoted. Seems like Bandai Namco is possibly just a really unreliable gacha game company. Hopefully they don't shut down the only Tales gacha game left, Tales of the Rays. That one has lots of male characters.

Also, it's really sad that joseimuke games tend to get all this hate from waifu game fans whenever there's news about them. I wouldn't dream of bashing waifu games even though they don't personally appeal to me. I wonder if some waifu game fans tend to feel threatened by any gacha game which isn't targeted at them.
