I resisted this one hard when I read the premise, but between the mostly positive early reviews and my brother really trying to get me to watch it I gave in. Have to say it's a surprisingly good series so far. It's good light watching that doesn't bog itself down with tons of bland characters with unnecessarily complex back stories, they just sort of show up, play their part and then depart. Keeping the focus on our traveling pair (though it looks like they pick up a slime at some point) is more fun for a story like this I think.

I tried three isekai titles this season, and this is pretty much the only one that held up after 3 episodes. The MC still has crazy cheat skills, but it helps that he has a working brain and his chemistry with Fel is fantastic. However for me the hook is really that this show is making me dream of food... I'll be damned if I'm not scouring my city's little Tokyo for some shogayaki before this show is over.

So glad that stuffed mouth Fel is the thumbnail for this week’s episode
Without spoiling too much, I can assure you that the little slime is the cutest thing ever in the series. I would go as far to say that the slime is one of the best things about this series along with the food porn (of course) and Fel!

Yeah, I'm a sucker for slimes in almost any series they've shown up in, so I'm really looking forward to that addition. I like Fel, but there's something about his voice that rubs me the wrong way (can't put my finger on it though), and his "I'm hungry, feed me now, ooh, this is good, more!" shtick is starting to wear thin with me, so I hope that changes up soon.
But I really like that Mukohda actually seems to have a brain in his head, and some caution, as well as just trying to enjoy his life in another world and what sights and experiences it might expose him to.
Not sure I understood how a map of the world was State Secrets unobtainable while the Adventurers' Guild was openly selling them for a silver. Surely libraries and bookstores would be aware of that?

Accurate maps of countries with roads, cities, terrain etc. are state secrets because they provide important info to invading armies (and this world's countries do seem to fight a lot from what the regular people say). The Adventurers' Guild map is a world map showing, very roughly, where the boundaries of the various countries are located on a single piece of paper. In this world very few people ever travel any large distances and they're not that interested in what's beyond the horizon or even further away so there isn't a big demand for such a map. Adventurers are the exception to this rule and Merchants too probably.

That's not quite what I was asking. Why didn't the people at the bookstore and especially the library just tell him, "You can't get a detailed world map, but you could probably pick up a general borders map for a silver over at the Adventurers' Guild." Instead they acted like all geography is top secret info and let him waste two days looking for help. And the library even charged him!
Maybe my real question is why are all the people in this country unhelpful pricks?

In the Real World most people are unhelpful pricks when engaging with random strangers. In isekai stories the NPCs will go out of their way to spend valuable time giving the Main Characters (and the readers/watchers) long explanations of how the new world works, where everything is, politics, the monetary system etc. This keeps things moving, storywise. It's refreshing to see an isekai where the locals act like Real People, not game NPCs. The grumpy Guild receptionist (the one who fell in love with Fel) was a refreshing change of pace.

For my first try, not so bad! I might have overdone it with the black bean paste, as it was more on the "sweet" side of sweet/spicy, and I had to swap in some in some improvised dashi/chicken broth for the weipa, since it is literally impossible to find here without ordering online (which is frustratingly appropriate, given the inspiration for the dish). I definitely want to give it another go here in the near future, with maybe some added spices and a bit more chili.

I'm not sure why he'd worry about being robbed when he has his infinite bag of holding to store his money in, and Fel and Sui would protect him anyway.
If there's ever going to be more to this than Cooking for Fel, I think it's going to have to be in the offer from the King. I'm not sure I trust this guild master, but his comment that having Fel around the kingdom would keep other kingdoms at bay sounds like info that could cause Mukohda trouble from the kingdom he fled. It might also mean they'd try to prevent him ever leaving to visit other kingdoms, which was one of the things he wanted to do. Though I doubt they could stop him, since didn't Fel want to go to the sea? (don't know if this kingdom has a seacoast or not)

Really hope they bring back the other kids that got isekaid. Kinda curious what they've been up to, and how they would react to Mukhoda and Fel. But, yeah, things are getting pretty repetitive and boring.

Not really a spoiler as I don't expect them to be mentioned again in the anime but they get taken advantage of by the Kingdom that summoned them. Later they follow Mukouda's example and escape, although with one of them taking some damage. They head off west in the opposite direction that Mukouda took and never meet up with him again.
Added spoiler tags: Errinundra.

At this point, this show is coasting on its animation alone. Sure it's fun but the lack of any compelling narrative and repetitive story beats is really causing things to get stale. I wonder if the light novel is this boring or if the story ever starts to pick up.
It's hard to care about how scared this guy is when it's already been firmly established how untouchable he is thanks to his familiars.

That crispy, crunchy sound when Mukohda takes a bite of double-fried karaage made me so very hungry. That was the most delicious sound I've heard in anime.
