Zack is so miscast it's heart breaking, especially since he was so well cast in the original game and the whole remake cast is so good over all.

Shame we no longer get George Newbern as sephiroth, and Quinton Flynn as Reno. I know it's a remake, but they really did have great presence. Even Zacks voice in this doesn't give me the "wet behind the ears" feeling Rick gomez had. It does look good. At the same time
doesn't crisis core spoiler A LOT of what will happen in FF7?

to this day,I still don't understand the reasoning for recasting everyone. They said the usual "we're going in a different direction" bullcrap,but that didn't apply to the Japanese cast for some reason,with some of them playing these characters for 20 years now...It's even worse that they actually got Steve Burton and Beau Billingslea back for the initial trailer of the Remake years ago...

Funny that Genesis sounds the best compared to the rest of english cast. Then again his VA also knocked out it out of the park in NEO TWEWY.

I imagine they wanted the cast to match with the remake
Aa for spoilers, it's an old game if you don't know the story by now that's your own fault.

Aside from the usual thing of people retiring, people having other obligations, pay disputes, untimely passings, or the studios just wanting to freshen things up?

Because in Japan it’s far more common for actors to keep on doing the same roles for decades whereas this isn’t as common in other countries.

Same. From what I understand they even recorded some chunk of the game before they fired everyone. I was definitely ready for a few characters to be recast, but everyone was a surprise. I theorize that they found themselves in a position where they had to recast Cloud (not sure why), with such a major recast it made more sense for them just to start fresh.

Yes but the 7 remake already spoiled all the big beats already. They expect you to know everything already.
