His music was sublime in Death Stranding. I can't wait to hear the new album.

I'm extremely saddened by this news.

In December 2019 I had the great pleasure of watching him perform solo in a tiny local underground venue and to hear his personal anecdotes about Kojima and Sony. He was very accessible, hanging out with fans before and after the show, and seemed like a genuinely humble person. We asked him whether we could film his performance from our seats in the front row and he just replied "Sure, no problem."

He didn't have much to say about Death Stranding itself that night, other than remarking that a very personal song about waking up from a panic attack is now forever going to make people think about "Norman Reedus riding his motorcycle". He also joked about people at the concert only knowing him since Nov. 8th (the release date of a "certain game")—though as it turns out there were actually quite a few diehard Low Roar fans in the audience who knew all of the deep cuts—and he introduced "Don't Be so Serious" by saying that he was only playing it to "prove" that he wrote the "f*@king song". He interrupted the performance midway to point out that the song mentions the name of an ex who cheated on him ("Agnes"), and that she now gets to be in a video game. The man clearly had a sense of humor.

Needless to say, he was an incredibly gifted singer, songwriter, and lyricist.

RIP, Ryan.

"And in my darkest hour
Shines my brightest light
And when the doves fly in
I'm just thankful that I met you"

- from "Darkest Hour", ross., 2019.
