It's ok. The main feature for me so far has been the soundtrack, which is definitely noteworthy. Decent soundtracks feel quite rare these days.

I am absolutely charmed by this show. My heart melts seeing the cute and earnest Fran interact with Teacher. For now I am happy with the nature of the show.

For me, the only thing interesting about this show is Fran's general reactions to the rest of the world. Her honest, childlike wide-eyed joy/sleepy boredom is great to watch.

As for the rest... well, hopefully she can carry the show, because there's not much else on offer.

First episode I was like: Can I just have the catgirl? Got better once they where interacting more. Though I am not sure how the reviewer will like the latest episode. On one hand it was neat in its action and endearing character work, on the other the stat spreadsheet joke rears its head again and Fran is immediately not threatened by the threat of the previous episode. And becoming so over powered she is now outclassing the best people she met only an episode or two ago.

Apparently "sword daddy and his cat-eared daughter" was something I needed this season because I'm having a lot of fun with this show. It definitely uses a lot of all too common tropes, but I do like the dynamic between Teacher and Fran that would be basically impossible in most isekai shows. A keeper for sure.

I wasn't expecting too much from this show and I'm not a fan of using gaming world conventions (I absolutely hate stat screens that pop up, regions & monster rankings, etc), but they have used it for some mild comedic effect (the sword is proud of its stats, but when they walk into town it realizes that every other weapon has higher attack stats and its ego is quickly deflated) which gets it some points from me. The first 3 episodes were still a little on the average side for me, but I think a lot is going to depend on the relationship of Sword Daddy and cat girl going forward. If it stays with him only saying how cute she is or how hard working she is it will get boring. If they have some character and relationship growth (leveling up doesn't count) then this might turn into a fun romp. So far I'm entertained, but I hope there's a little more meat to this show.

Every single monster and adventurer Fran has gone up against has been extrodinarily weak. spoiler[Fran is easily defeated by any adventurer C Rank and above, and Veteran D class adventurers could still beat Fran. The series' power scaling puts the average Joe Schmo adventurer between F-D class. Fran is anything but overpowered at this point.]
You are proclaiming Fran being overpowered only three(4) episodes into the show which is much too early for that. Not only that, but Fran has a natural advantage over the same lower ranked adventurers due to Master's skill share. Her own individual stats are pitifully weak.

No just out classing the person she had difficulties with in episode 2, in episode 4. The guild tester dude listed as one of the strongest adventurers in the local guild. As she quickly dispatches monsters he was struggling to make in ways from. Also no point in quibbling about her equipment making her powerful, that is still powerful.

To be fair the tester is stated as being the strongest in the guild who is currently in town. It's mentioned all the strongest high tier members of the guild are away dealing with something else so it's only the mid to low tier members who are currently around.

She only comes across as OP because she has a variety of abilities others don't have while fighting relatively weak monsters.

Frustrating episode really. Fran remains adorable in her spirit, determination, interactions with Teacher and just general reactions to stuff. But the lengthy lore dumps were just... really dry. The time spent with whole discussion on repairing? Would have been better spent watching the smith actually do some smithing, even if that's not really faithful to the source. The bath scene was pretty tame in the scheme of things, but I'm still not sure I'm on board with depicting someone otherwise very clearly presented as a child like that.

That's what overpowered means, though. Nobody is saying she's the strongest being in the universe. A big fish in a small pond is overpowered.

That latter episodes might change that doesn't mean she's not overpowered now. That's like saying "You can't call him weak, because by the end of the series he becomes a god"

tldr, OP isn't inherently bad so there doesn't need to be a negative reaction or rush to defense to a character getting called that. It just depends on how it's handled.

Honestly, I'm enamored wirh the source material. It doesn't exactly re-invent the wheel, but I can't help liking it solely for being a traditional adventure story with the somewhat unique gimmick of having dual MCs with a father/daughter bond. The adaptation ended up being better than I thought, though to be fair, by standards were non-existent

The game logic can be tedious but overall it has been a good time. Extra appreciation for them getting caught by surprise and being shocked. That said I feel like power from skill levels could easily become a story writing crutch, where problems and solutions start coming from those power levels. Hope it develops from here.

Watched the first four episodes (I don't read the novels).

The beginning felt rushed (it's similar to Tensura, but Tensura is much better in that department). Then, it became better when Fran met the sword. She's cute and their interactions are enjoyable, but the series feels unoriginal and bland overall. It has too much exposure (narrated in a non-interesting way), and it spoon-feeds the viewer with game mechanics without the world itself being a game (as far as I know)--that stuff works better in series like Bofuri, to make a comparison.

Anime aside, does the source material get better/less generic later on?
