I've read the first chapters of the manga. Honestly I thought this would be better off as a live-action TV drama or even a movie instead of anime.
When was the last time we had a thriller drama anime featuring a middle-aged husband/dad as protagonist?

Directed by someone from the War for Cybertron series is a bit of a red flag to me (but I guess the quality issues might not have been his fault), but it looks nice and the cast seems phenomenal.
I mean, Junichi Suwabe as a lead? With Sayaka Ohara as his wife? Sign me up!

PV and staff raises some concerns, but at least the plot itself sounds pretty great
Also, Ippo's voice actor of all people being the scriptwriter is funny.

Was so excited when they announced the anime adaptation, I think the manga has a really strong start but does start to feel a little stretched out, personally not enjoying the most recent chapters as when I started reading the series.
This PV also looks very lacklustre. Like others have said I always thought the series would be more suited as a live-action tv show. Looking at the PV you can this will be very low quality unfortunately.

This looks awesome. At long last we have a truly adult/ mature thriller in anime form. I really couldn't disagree more with the people complaining that this should have been a live action. I mean, are we suppossed to get only isekai/romcoms/shonen fluff in anime form? Aren't you guys tired of getting the same stuff over and over again? I couldn't think of any single reason why this shouldn't be an anime. Too serious for the modern audience ?? Not enough slapstick comedy or cute girls???
I mean, there was a time when we got stuff like Monster, Jin-Rou or Texhnolyze done. All of them dead serious, mature thrillers that are at the very least really respected and appreciated by many anime fans all these years later. I doubt My Home Hero will be able to reach the heights of the aforementioned series/movie, but at the very least I can see in the PV a series that feels unique, mature and ambitious, and boy am I glad we are getting stuff like this in this day and age of trashy isekai/romcom domination...
Also, I've just read that Kenji Kawaii is making the music. No way in hell I'm missing this one...

PV looks fine. What’s so lackluster about it?

There's barely any animation in the trailer and what movement there is it looks very stiff. This gives off Lucifer & Biscuit Hammer vibes of quality.

Maybe it’s still in development. Give it more time before judging it prematurely.

It'd be like Todomachi Game at best and not as rough as Biscuit Hammer was.

Even if the animation looks stiff in PV, it ain't bad - and honestly, the manga itself is not about the action parts, it's a suspense thriller. But the main voice cast is really great (cheers for whoever picked Sayaka Ohara for top mom Kasen) and probably gonna carry the series.

I think a lot of people get hung up on the animation quality and forget that not all the series are about the action. Odd taxi looked like ass and yet it was an incredible series because it told a great story in a truly unique way. I don't think a single person who enjoyed that series ever thought "well, the fights and the action parts are not on the same level of Kimetsu no Yaiba..."
I really think this PV looks great. The character designs and the color palette are on point and convey the atmosphere of a seinen thriller perfectly, despite obviously not having the flashiest animation out there. And, to be honest, I'll take a good, well written thriller over a flashy yet ultra generic action shonen series any day...
