An animated adaptation would be VERY good.

given how Sony clearly didn't give a crap about the series by disbanding most of the developers from the Japanese side and never really promoting it that much,I'm surprised they actually remembered it exists enough to make an adaptation of it.

There was that two episode OVA that came out a while ago, but it's this going to be an animated film or live action film?

American production team so live-action.

Yeah because being written by a Japanese writer would’ve ensured success.

When compared to the American writing quality we’ve been getting? Yup

I mean, I love Gravity Rush, but how did this of all IPs get greenlit for a film, and not even in Japan?

That depends on where you're looking. Sure, we have garbage like Death Note and Cowboy Bebop, but we also got Detective Pikachu and the Sonic movies.

Pikachu/Sonic are outliers. American writers don’t get the benefit of the doubt anymore, they have burned through that years ago.

Let’s be real here, DOA.

Is it "obvious"? Also would it be a problem if she was played by a black actress?

I have no idea how this will turn out, outside of anime I'll be amazed if a live-action film manages to capture the colour and style of the game. But with this news I'm holding out hope above hope that this means another potential new 3rd game from Toyama once Bokeh is finished with Slitterhead.

Could be that Sony is just throwing any IP at the wall to see what they can get, particularly if they are going to be offering stuff for streaming as part of PS+.

I don't see why Sony couldn't outsource a new game as a 2nd party project, and given PS5's SSD abilities, I'd love to see what Toyama could do on PS5 with the concept, which was the best open world game to travel around in imo.

Given the 2nd game's ending, I don't mind if they used Raven or some new girl as the main lead. Heck, I'd even take a reboot of the franchise.

The combat does need work, but it was easy and fun enough for me. Just give kat some new 'shooter' abilities, and let flying-melee moves be area of effect attacks or something. I dunno, but even if it's the same as the 2nd game, I'll take it!

at first, I thought damn that's awesome, this is finally getting a well due anime.

my heart froze when I scrolled over the comments to see "American live-action" though. I feel like people should be angrier though with this by now instead of resigning in apathy.
