What’s the point of this? And why has this shit replaced FMA anime on their catalog? Just bizarre.

The article already explains it's to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the manga. It hasn't "replaced" the anime. The anime expired on Netflix along with many other Aniplex/Sony titles they had after Sony bought Crunchyroll.

I'm glad for anyone who wants to check out the live-action movies that they'll be available for streaming.

The first live-action wasn't particularly good, it compressed a lot of differen't plotpoints of the manga in a different order and, while understandable considering Japanese studios don't have the same resources as Hollywood, the production values weren't that great. Still, I think I'll give it a watch, just out of curiosity-
Sidenote, for the Neutral Spanish dub Mustang will need a recast considering his voice actor, Luis Daniel Ramirez, no longer works for major dubbing studios due to his harassment actions against many actresses (kinda like Ed's English voice actor, though Luis has admitted his behavior). Mustang will probably be dubbed by the actor who vocied in the FMAB redub made last year, though it would be cool if they could bring Mustang's original voice actor, Rolman Bastidas.

Assuming these movies also get dubbed, I wonder who they're going to get to play Ed for obvious reasons. I imagine Al will also be recast because of Aaron Dismuke's health issues.

Well, all movies billed as Netflix Orignals get dubbed into various languages, the first FMA live-action received various dubs and in some of them they managed to bring the orignal dub voice actors. Here in Latin America it was kind of strange since the original FMA and Brotherhood were dubbed in Venezuela, but Netflix doesn't dub their productions there,so the movie ended up dubbed in Mexico, but by sheer coicidence Alphonse's voice actor, Jhonny Torres, moved to Mexico, so he reprised his role. And just last year the Funimation redubbed FMAB into Neutral Spanish, the dub was done in Mexico, Jhonny reprised his role as Al again, but they also managed to bring back Ed's original voice actor, José Manuel Vieira (he recorded his dialogues remotely since he lives in Spain now), and the voice actress who voiced Winry in the live-action, Montserrat Aguilar, voiced her in the anime redub. Some voice actors who worked in the live-action voiced different characters in the redub as well, for example young Al's voice actor ended up as Selim.
