Don't forget changing dialogues for no apparent reason. I just finished reading some volumes of Tokyopop's version of Petshop of Horrors, and I wouldn't really call it a translation, it's more like a rather loose adaptation. ("Tattoo artist"? What the heck?!)

And what about the fact that it takes them four months just to get one graphic novel out? I mean, I'm really wondering how +Anima(The only Tokyopop series I still buy) is going to end. The series started in America back in like late 2005 and we're only at volume SIX!! Volume. Freakin. Six. C'mon! If any other company had +Anima, the series would've finished sometime in 2007(It's only like, what, 10 volumes?).

It's not just TokyoPop; pretty much EVERY SINGLE COMPANY does that.
Dark Horse has slowed Eden down to potentially 2 times a year, and Viz releases mangas like Ultimate Muscle/Kinnikuman Nisei and Saint Seiya every four months or so.
And you're complaining about 4 months? Try being a fan of works like Kindiachi or B't X, which come out only 2 times a year!
If sales are slow, the companies will slow down the releases. There are only a few exceptions, like Viz's Firefighter! (which was probably due to contractual obligations). Can't blame only TokyoPop for releasing mangas at a slow pace; everyone does it.

Is Stu the guy who is on the extras on the Initial D DVDs? These are very entertaining and the guy can speak Japanese very well although not as good as Michael Arias'.
It is odd how I thought Stu was older than me before I heard this interview. I like how Tokyopop is supportive of new talent, and they had a nice presence at Wondercon last weekend.

I disagree that books you can download will replace books you can read, because the possibility of your data being wiped out when you haven't finished a particular story is what will keep many from investing in the idea. Even in Japan, where that kind of technology is more prevalent, they still read novels and tankouban. I think what makes the iPod a hit is a combination of music industry price-gouging and the audacity of record companies producing one or two notable song in a mix of crap. So, unless Japanese magazine companies start going that route, they should be safe here. [Though if it's really such a problem in Japan, I can see why the technology took off there.]
