Won’t know for sure until we learn of the quality of the emulated titles….and unless Sony starts asking for extra cash for new versions of the old PS1, PS2, & PS3 controllers for immersion. |

Honestly, Premium might be a go for me- if the emulation is decent and the library is truly deep. There are a bunch of ps1/ps2 games that I'd love to replay (and a few psp), and if the service allows for them, I'd be happy to fork over the cash. Play through some of the old, niche rpgs again- Something like, say, Shadow Hearts, Growlanser, or Arc the Lad? Don't mind if I do.

There isn't much for 2022 that TGS or a Nintendo Direct won't cover. I can't see the new PS+ options being any good outside of Premium and even then, it's overpriced; at least Japan got a bit of a deal but not by much and they'll have a far better games library.

One thing that Sony is still missing is PS1/PS2/PS3 backwards-compatibility, so ya can play those games ya already own without paying for it again or for a subscription

-E3: If a 2023 event happens then the ESA needs to decide what they want E3 to be. The problem with E3 has been that it seemed to be an in awkward halfway state between serious trade show and convention. So you would have these investor showings but then loads of typical gamer stuff. Either be GDC or be PAX, you can't do both. And it's only gotten worse after Nintendo switched from pressers to Directs at E3 and caused the entire industry to switch to that (even if most of them clearly don't get what makes Directs appealing). So here we are, wondering if E3 is going to continue existing, let alone what path it should take
(PS. Keighley sucks, is a mousey shill, and will never get a Zelda reveal no matter how much he begs Nintendo.) -BOTW2: As usual, Nintendo would rather announce a delay than release something unfinished. And considering how the rest of the year is pretty stacked with Fire Emblem: Three Hopes, Splatoon 3, Live A Live, Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, Bayonetta 3, and Xenoblade 3, BOTW 2 out next year is not a huge deal. And no, people are not getting a new Switch, Nintendo's making so much money they're in no hurry (AND THE CHIP SHORTAGE IS STILL A THING!) -PS+: It shows how borked the PS3 is that they can't actually emulate its games, resorting to the cloud instead. |

Considering the One with it’s most touted BC feature doesn’t let you play all of your disc based games I don’t think we’re going to get that for consoles. |

PSP games? Give me either of the two good Dissidia games so I can retire my PSP, and you have a deal.

Nintendo has a solid selection of games coming this year, they're probably not too worried that BotW2 won't come out this year, not to mention that they could reveal more titles in future Directs. I also don't think that a Switch revision or successor will come soon, despite what people are saying. There have been some rumors and even some leaks that suggest that the Switch successor could be more powerful than a PS4 Pro but I think it Nintendo is planning to release it in 2024. |

Canceling E3 2022 was no surprise. Companies can do their own thing digitally whenever they want, so E3 isn't a draw. We had some slots occupied by companies that were there last year with nothing to show. I tend to agree with the commentary I've seen that the ESA pulled the plug for 2022 because the various delays we've seen in the industry mean that most of the usual participants had very little worth presenting right now.
The comments about wanting E3 tend to come from either indie devs that use it as a time to shop for a publisher, or from journalists and the like that go for the coverage. Either way, if it isn't done in person, it seems to serve little function. |

E3 seems completely irrelevant in the era of digital streaming and events. The last thing keeping it's relevancy was hands-on demos, but that can all be handled online now by giving people access to a test clients and server which I've personally taken part in a couple of times now.

And it will continue to be a thing thanks to shortages of neon, a gas largely produced in... Ukraine. |

Didn't stop Nvidia from announcing the 4000 series later in the year. lel |
