Unfortunately this is an ongoing problem from the beginning of time till the end of time.

Nevertheless, still unacceptable. If their claims are true, I hope they win the case.

"Global Standards" bit them in the ass, I'm not surprised it was all nothing but smoke and mirrors like most out of control censorship initiatives.

Not much else to say except that the accusations should be heard, because this is way too common a pattern at this point.

To be honest, I think this is why the recent Playstation Direct seemed to come out of nowhere and was weirdly thin on announcements. Also doesn't help that this makes their recent "Women's History Month" banner look like even more of a joke. When companies try to do virtue signaling capitalism it's always awkward, but this is just plain hypocritical.

An employee had asked her not to wear skirts at work because they distracted him.

I'm kinda head-scratching on this one. It seems like an acceptable request to make (and of course she had the full right to reject or accept the request). It doesn't really fit with the others listed that are actual harassments.

Um, NO, it is not an acceptable request to make and I can say that's sexual harassment and here is why.

First off, if she was allowed to wear a skirt to work that tells u there's no no skirt policy at work so even just asking that with skirts allowed is wrong. 2nd off, its not like she's coming into work in her birthday suit, the person shouldn't even be LOOKING at her much less having perverted thoughts. 3rdly am sure if we're talking about a too low skirt that'd have been against rules so u can rule that excuse out the window and 4thly, asking someone to not wear or to wear something when there is no rule against it is wrong in the first place, more so making a comment that involves sexual attraction. Again, doesn't sound like we're talking about a skirt thats too short here, so why the fudge would u even MAKE such a idiotic comment but to sexually harass someone? Now if the employee has a skirt fetish then thats not even the woman's fault nor the employee's fault but the saying "get ur mind outta the gutter" still applies here and the comment shouldn't have been said.

Maybe they should have addressed the real life harassment and discrimination going on in their company rather than worrying about fictional characters?

Snark aside, this is horrible, and I hope the appropriate actions are taken to make sure things like this don’t happen again.

As if people needed more reasons to hate Sony and Playstation these days. Sad Makes me glad there's nothing on PS5 worth playing that you can't also get on PC

It's harassment because the guy was basically saying "You're at fault for tempting me!"

Just as the others have explained why in the previous posts.

If there was no policy on skirts ban at the company, what other people wear is none of that guy's business.

I like snark but this is not the thing to snark about dude especially when Japan the country whose games you’re seemingly standing up for still has a bit of problem with sexual discrimination & harassment towards women.

This is a problem that needs to be addressed globally and across multiple industries and entities not just in one place.

Weird take especially given how publishers like Activision Blizzard who have a presence on the PC market is still going through some issues themselves.

It’s a request that 10 times out of 10 tends to make no sense and has the potential to become a legitimate problem that can potentially cost a woman a job because her male peers/superiors feel threatened by their attractiveness

This isnt surprising but i am not sure if playstation would go the same route as blizzard since sony is pretty big. The tech industry has been heavily male dominated and these types of lawsuits are getting more common every day, especially in silicon valley.

So like, is it OK that he's putting the responsibility for his actions on her? Is he an adult man who can control his urges and can focus on what he needs to focus on or not? If not, he has no place as the employee of any company... She was wearing a skirt, not like, doing naked pole dance on the meeting table. Nobody was forcing him to keep checking her out.

Also, the whole situation of walking up to a person and basically telling them that their sexiness is distracting you is just creepy as hell and absolutely qualifies as sexual misconduct.

The don't-wear-skirts asking thing does feel less damaging than the other incidents, but I don't know what you'd call it if not sexual harassment. It's not like he was saying the skirts were just too colorful or the threadwork just so detailed that he couldn't help but admire them. I don't think it's reasonable to say he "shouldn't have sexual thoughts", but that's definitely not the kind of thing you verbalize to a coworker in a professional setting, and especially isn't something you try to make their obligation/problem rather than yours.

I wonder if it will remain at just 9? Feels like there have been an awful lot of these blossoming into larger organized labor or class action complaints/protests in the gaming industry over the past half-decade. As an industry, kinda feels like it's living up to its own negative stereotypes.
