Even though I'm one over, my best guesses at this point are probably:
Encanto
Flee
Mitchells vs the Machines
Luca
Belle
Raya the Last Dragon

I'd love for Pompo to get nominated but more realistically just Belle will get in since Hosoda has a president for being nominated with Mirai.
An even bigger dream would be for any of these movies to actually win lol

I think this is the first year that I can say an anime film feels like a shoe-in for a nomination. Belle’s 14-minute standing ovation at Cannes has attracted considerable attention, and critics have been very positive about it. Also, Mirai was nominated a few years ago.
If GKIDS stick the landing of the US release, then I think Belle might even have a chance of winning. I still need to see Encanto, but Disney money will likely give it stiff competition anyway. I wouldn’t mind seeing the Oscar go to The Mitchells vs the Machines though.
Also, as much as I love Pompo, it ain’t getting nominated. Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko is a superb film that deserves more attention, but it isn’t even getting that among the anime crowd, so yeah.

I think Belle is a real possibility, considering all the outside studio and collaborators he brought in for that movie. I'd personally like Pompo to get in, but that's more of a pipe dream at this point. I haven't seen the others, but I hope one of them gets in.
Other thoughts: Encanto and Luca are definitely in (and one of them is probably going to win, I'm leaning towards Encanto personally). Raya and the Mitchells might as well, though if Raya got nominated that would be three Disney-owned movies in a row, so maybe not. Vivo, Wish Dragon, and Summit are also possibilities. Don't even joke with me on Boss Baby, I forgot it even came out lol

I've just seen Belle recently and I think it's absolutely Oscar-worthy stuff: if it gets the promotion in the States it deserves, it might have a slight amount of chance (unless... you know... Disney has anything to say about it). The only other movie I've seen on this list is Josee, which is a movie I greatly enjoyed, but I have my doubts about its chances.
While we're at it, why is a movie made by literal cultists is there on this list?

As long as it meets the eligibility requirements
There was once a time when people would ask anybody who's eligible to submit their forms just so the Animated Feature category would have 15 eligible films and thus get the maximum of 5 nominations (meaning 5 animated films would get their turn in the spotlight, instead of just max 3 if less than 15)

Thank you, but it was more of a rhetorical question

They should expand it to more than five films. Anyway, as I joked on Twitter, Ron's gone wrong is more of an Oscar voter favorite than Belle. And if applause mattered, then Rintaro's Metropolis would've gotten in.

Congrats, you got 5 out of the 6 right - Belle didn't make it. In fact, no anime made the feature or short film lists
And Flee also got nominated for Best International Feature Film and Best Documentary Feature --the very first film to achieve all 3-- cementing it as the frontrunner for Best Animated Feature
But Japan's Drive My Car live-action film got multiple nominations, including the big one Best Picture - another foreign film, 2 years after Korean Parasite won
