I am very surprised by this because now it is going to be even more difficult to get a PS5 and that will cause even more people to just go for the games on PCs instead. It's understandable though.

Well seeing as stores have a stocking issue, this makes perfect sense as people might as well wait for the pro version at this point. Sony may be seeing a sales decline or production chip issues as well. Causing a forced reduction in volume.

Doubt there will be a 'Pro' version. That experiment with PS4 was rather ho-hum in terms of sales. It was likely done to prevent migration to PC, but now Sony publishes on PC, so there is no reason to further complicate the console space and instead focus on bringing down the costs and sort out manufacturing and supply issues of the base model. Developers strained under government-imposed work-at-home conditions are already having trouble with delays and firmware issues. Plus with development of PSVR2 underway, I wouldn't count on seeing any pro model soon or even at all. With inflation thanks to government money-printing, prices are likely to stay high and not drop anytime soon.

Is there a PS5 Pro in the horizon? How well did the PS4 Pro sell in comparison to the standard model?, at least where I live the regular model was more common. I think people are wating more for a Slim version
Speaking of the PS5, I heard that the console is breaking sales records but considering this chip shortage situtation, is it possible that the PS5 can sell as well or above the 116 million units the PS4 did?, I don't think any home console can sell as well as the PS2

At this point, I'm going to assume that I'll be playing Demon's Souls through the eventual PC port.

I bet this will make re-sellers charge even more for existing PS5's. Guess I'll have to wait even longer to get one.

By then, you might as well wait for the PS6.

This. OTOH, how hard is it to get a GOOD GPU card for gaming PCs these days? Not looking for the fastest, just enough for a decent rig to play the PC version of BAYONETTA in 4K.

the PS5 currently is worthless. and it will stay so for a long while till game devs start making games taking use of the PS5 hardware power instead of just locking PS4 capable games to it and calling it a day.

I'd love to get a PS5 despite there being a low quantity of exclusive games that are worth buying it for. But I'm not interested in paying a hefty premium for it to unsavory jack wagons over the innerwebs.

For that matter, I'd love to get a current video card for the PC I built earlier this year to replace the GeForce 970 from 2015 held over from the previous build. But I'm not interested in paying a hefty premium for it to unsavory jack wagons over the innerwebs.

Luckily my gamer itch has largely subsided with the onset of middle age. But still.

Fairly difficult. Best way honestly is to get a pre-built with a decent card in it. That's what I did after months and months of part-searching and I'm satisfied.

Thanks for the advice.

This has been my entire reason not to buy one. Sans a handful of standouts there isn't anything on the console that I can't already buy on PS4. A little better graphics and stable FPS isn't something that's going to move me to purchase one.

I'm also incredibly leery of the seemingly slow movement of games in recent times. Hyper detail is getting to a point of overload yet there are still plenty of games going back to the PS3 that are holding up very well even in 2021. We're not experiencing the sort of game technological leaps that we did PS1 > PS2, and PS2 > PS3. Instead PS3 > PS4 > PS5 has been a slow ascending slope.

This is part of why I never rush out to buy the newest console systems right away. Ever since the PS3 and 360 I've taken a wait a year and see approach.
