Wow. If this gets dubbed(which it most likely will), when was the last time we had dubbed TV Conan?

Nobody will dub this since it is not popular outside of Japan (well, it's not popular enough worldwide anyway). Anyway to answer your question it's been since August 16th 2004. It was episode 49.

I am pretty sure it will. Netflix rarely doesn't dub what they license. Even anime that are old will get dubbed. Baki was almost unknown outside of Japan before the new anime. Now both season 3 has been dubbed and the manga is being translated digitally.

Netflix dubs everything they stream, even live-action shows. There's no way this isn't getting dubbed.

Besides, TMS USA produced dubs of some recent Conan movies as well as Episode "One" and released them digitally and giving them to Discotek to release on Blu-ray.

No doubt Bang Zoom! is going to dub this considering they have previously dubbed the Conan specials and the more recent films.

I’m glad “Detective Conan” is finally official in English countries rather than the stupid “Case Closed” title.

Not quite as there's still parts of Saiki K that never got dubbed.

I don't know anything about the English dub, but here in Latin America Conan's dub has been very inconsistent. From episode 1 to 123 it was dubbed in Los Angeles between the years 1998 to 2001, the voice acting was decent, but there were many inconsistencies and like many TMS dubs from the day there were name changes (Shinichi Kudo was changed to Bobby Jackson for example). In 2014 a Chilean company adquired the rights and dubbed episodes 124 to 284 with Chilean actors for the main roles, with some aditional voices from Venezuela and Argentina, but this time they used the japanese names for the characters. As for the movies, The Last Wizard of the Century was dubbed in chile as a test for the dub, while The Time Bombed Skyscraper, The Fourteenth Target, Dimensional Sniper and the vs. Lupin III movie were dubbed in Mexico.
It will be interesting to see in which country the Neutral Spanish dub will be made this time, Netflix dubs most of their anime in Mexico, the only major exceptions have been Ultraman (Colombia), Juushinki Pandora (Argentina) and Edens Zero (Chile).

You are right, considering the state of Conan outside of Japan (in some places it is more popular than others but overall it is not as big as in Japan), there wouldn't be a demand for it. So why do you think everyone thinks the two series will get a dub?

Because these two series are a spin-off, not Conan itself. It is like asking Magic Kaito 2014 will get a dub or not based on Conan. These two shows will be treated independently from the main Conan series and dubbing it would be a great way to get people interested in the franchise, by extension the main series as dubbed versions can reach a wider audience, and that is exactly what they want with the franchise.

It doesn't really have anything to with Netflix always do dub or not.

It's like why are the new film releases are in both sub and dub, with a clear sign to push the dub. They want people to have an entry point into the Conan franchise and promoting the 1000 episode long TV series is NOT going to be attractive to your average one-cour-11-episode-binge-watching audience. But a 2-hour film or a spin-off series that is likely going to be one-cour anyway? Best entry point possible!

There has been a push to release the films in theatres in Middle East and Southeast Asia in the past 8 years. Both were able to facilitate new fans into reading the manga and watching the TV series. This is exactly their strategy. You have to get new blood. Dubbed anime is always how you reach a bigger audience.

I wonder if Netflix is going to pick up the police academy spinoff too?

Considering they're investing in two other Conan spinoffs I wonder if they'll start streaming the currently released movies from Discotek as well, at least the ones that have already been dubbed.

Does Discotek have other titles that are on Netflix right now? I know Discotek appears to have an agreement with RetroCrush, but the new dubs for M19-23 are already on other platforms. Netflix like their exclusivity. If it is on other platforms already, they may not like it very much.

Yeah, I forgot about those movies. I also forgot to mention that another Conan related anime; Magic Kaito 1412, was dubbed into Neutral Spanish in 2017, the dub was made in Mexico with various actors who worked in the Conan movies reprising their roles, but there was a demo made in Chile as well.

As others have pointed out, it's unlikely these spinoffs will be sub-only. Most animated Netflix productions do get a handful of dubs commissioned.

Funimation dubbed the first 130 episodes of Conan. Cartoon Network only aired the first 49, but the rest saw a DVD release ending in 2009.

Discotek seems to only hold physical home video rights to the Conan movies. Like Lupin, it seems everything else resides with TMS.
