You know, that really is a heck of an achievement. Other anime have higher episode counts, but they are all episodic. I'm pretty sure One Piece is the longest-running serialized story ever produced in animation and that's amazing, especially when you consider that the source material was all written by one person.
And somehow (at least in my opinion) it still hasn't jumped the damn shark! It's come close, but it somehow always recovers. Absolutely remarkable.

^ That last part is important. While the later arcs have problems (too long arcs, DBZ Frieza arc padding in the anime, too many things going on at once) it's still telling a good story unlike other ones that did jump the shark like Bleach and Naruto (ducks). I'll admit I just read the Manga now but I might just watch this 1,000th episode (a week later however).

Eh, it never came close to this level of padding. Besides the anime nowadays heavily expands upon things that the manga implied, off screened or skipped in order to avoid that, obviously it's not always the case but they try their best. (some scenes are even approved by Oda as it was confirmed by the anime staff)

It's been such a joy to watch the anime after the creative shake-up at the start of the Wano arc. The staff have poured a ton of passion into the series, and there have been some spectacularly-animated episodes. Even though it's still keeping the same glacial pacing when compared to the source material, it feels much quicker because of the presentation.

For an Author and illustrator to create a story of 1000 chapters long and with an adaptation to match that with 1000+ episodes and ongoing is almost unheard of in the industry. I have never seen a case like this before in all my years of watching anime. It’s usually you get short or longer publications, but anime adaptations end up being seasonal or cut short.
Also Shout out to Rogersbase, one of the best known youtube content creators for one piece and other related stuff like video games and manga reactions. I swear, before one piece is over if there is anyone who has a chance to meet the Legend Eiichiro Oda himself it’s our Mammoth boyz extraordinaire and anime King, Rogersbase

1000 episodes is such an amazing achievement. I've had my criticisms with the anime for a long time now, but still whenever I binge some new episodes I get reminded just how unique it is. There really is just no other show like it and I enjoy that greatly.
I do like when the anime adds more content than what's seen in the manga like the Oden flashback which was incredible, but there is unfortunately a lot of just padding for time.
Man, I remember having so goddamn much free time I even rewatched the whole show (which at the time was at the end of Dressrosa). I can't even imagine myself doing that again, although I would love to.
Naruto will be next I suppose... if you count Boruto, that is. 60 episodes to go.
