Lets be honest, the real reason is that they charge absurd amounts of money for the license to their games. If hundreds of random eroge can get localized on Steam, Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night can.

This really comes across as if he doesn't really want to be bothered with it. The obstacles he's identified seem like things that can be overcome if the will was actually there; which is unfortunate cause I'm sure this would sell well if properly marketed.

I keep seeing people point out how other Nasu translations are not always perfect as a reason he's totally right. But...like...so?? What then, we have to wait 15 years to get it, or never get it, or get a fan translation people will still complain about anyway?

So that's something that I don't get as well. I'd rather get a translation that's close enough than no translation at all
Also...so Nasu is okay with all the cuts made to the various Type-Moon VN anime adaptations, but the VN itself can't be translated? That makes no sense to me...

I think the thing that throws me off the most is that the whole Type Moon franchise is like…obviously popular outside Japan. Almost everything except the VNs get localized and translated, with the most glaring exception (the second Fate/Extra game) being a case of bad timing. But I think the big difference is that for basically everything else in the overarching franchise, Type Moon doesn’t get final say over whether or not it gets localized.
There’s very obviously a market, but Nasu talks about it like visual novels are entirely untested and prone to bomb really hard and that the only option is to do it in-house and on a tiny budget. While, as noted above, the license fees for the visual novels have historically been ridiculously high which means that even companies who want to translate them balk because they’re valued on the level of like, a major AAA franchise.
This particular thing is a recurring pattern that I’ve noticed out of Japan. “Oh, this game won’t sell outside Japan, we’re completely sure of it, we’ve done zero market research and are ignoring the several companies asking if they can translate it because we’re so sure this property is so Japanese that it will fail elsewhere.” Namco is guilty of it with big chunks of the Tales series, Square Enix did it for a while, Capcom too. Hell, it was the case with Muv Luv for a while, but the company there noticed the VN boom and decided to make the first moves themselves and it’s apparently been really profitable for them, given that they’re doing all the spinoffs now too.

It would be nice to see it get an official English localization but Tsukihime getting an anime adaption with an English dub seems like it might happen before Type-Moon would commit to that.

He can keep living in his little bubble whining about imperfect translations, but there is already work on fan translations and MTL using a Switch emulator. A lot of fans will cough up the money for this given the chance, but other wise they're just going to read more of those imperfect translations he hates for free.

I'm guessing a major reason is that he doesn't want to deal with all of the censorship... er... "localization" issues and having foreigners pestering him constantly regardless of what is done about it.
It's certainly not an issue with costs, as even a crappy translation will still make Type-Moon a lot of money.

besides the thematic rapey elements kept in, the Tsukihime remake is an all-ages release with no hentai. There's no such issue to be found in that.
Fate Stay Night has had many all-ages releases in Japan as well.

I just never really imagine graphic violence crossing anyone's minds anymore for problematic media in anime. This can go on for eternity in debate, but you probably know what I mean.

That's not true at all. As far as I know none of Type Moon's light novels have ever been officially translated into English not even the ones that got popular anime adaptions like Fate/Zero or Fate/Apocrypha. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is also fairly well known and that doesn't have its manga being released in English either. I'm pretty sure the only Type Moon books released in English are some of the FGO manga Adaptions and Today's Menu for the Emiya Family.

I think Type-Moon should go ahead and release the Tsukihime remake on Steam, without worrying about translations. There's already plenty of Japanese games on there without English localizations, and I'm fairly certain Steam's developer tools let devs know where copies of their games are being sold.
A big chunk of the mainline Touhou series is on Steam without official localizations, but with many reviews in English; applying translation patches isn't a huge hurdle for the Touhou fanbase. Type-Moon is a bigger outfit than Team Shanghai Alice, but they should follow their example: just throw them up there and see how they do. They can then decide on translations/localizations based on those sales.
