Not thrilled that it's going to cost extra just for access to more VC games. I'm glad that we're getting them, but it is a bit disappointing that it's going to cost more.

let's see how long Nintendo will care about releasing N64 games until they abandon them and repeat the cycle on the next console for the fourth time...

Depends on how much. N64 online multiplayer games are a legit draw, just due to how easy (I assume) that'll be to set up.
Thanks to the family plan, if you have some friends, vanilla Nintendo Online is ridiculously cheap - I'm basically paying like $4.50 a year for it. As long as they don't screw with that and the expansion doesn't cost way, way more, I could go for this. |

I do hope Nintendo Online offers Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games soon.

$20 a year was already probably too cheap for what's currently being offered, so there was no way I think we could expect more systems for the same price (well, maybe Game Boy). Personally I would have preferred it to be an add-on for each system (and future systems), rather then just another (probably more expensive) tier. |

We don't even know how much more it's going to cost yet. What if it's just a dollar more or less? We simply don't know yet. Also I'm thrilled to have Banjo-Kazooie on the Switch sometime in the future. |

Hopefully they offer the Genesis Version of “Mortal Kombat” 1 (ie. Not blood-removed like the SNES version ) if that ever comes to pass.

The Wii built up a nice selection of VC games. Then Nintendo brought out the Wii U and started from scratch. Now they've got the Switch and have made it even worse by very slowly putting old games up on their service. And why won't they put some [expletive] GCN games on, people would pay hand over fist for some of those titles.

I don’t know what you’re complaining about if you like the idea of them doing that just don’t buy them. |

The fact that Nintendo is charging more for the service is kind of bad, but at least they're acknowledging the demand for N64 games, but it seems in Europe they're using the 50hz versions due to their multiple language options despite them running worse than the 60hz versions.
At least it's neat that they're making a new version of the N64 gamepad, which despite most people hating it I didn't find it hard to use when I was a kid, I don't know why people don't understand that you're suppossed to use the center prong with the stick for most games, the three hand game pad joke it's getting old. But I'd preffer that the Genesis controller was the six-button one. It's interesting to see Banjo-Kazooie in the N64 line-up, but it would be better if Microsoft just makes a remake in the vein of the Crash and Spyro remasters, and release it on the Xbox and Switch. |

If I had a Nintendo Switch, I'd rather just pay a few dollars to download the individual Genesis games that I don't already have on the Genesis Mini (re: just MUSHA and I know Ristar also wasn't on the Mini but it's in many older collections) than have to pay live service fees just to be able to play them.
Another thing, I'd much rather play Sega Genesis games with a 6-button controller anyway (even though, yes, I know the initial batch of Genesis titles doesn't include any 6-button titles). The 3-button controller might be the most iconic but, even back in the 1990s, I preferred playing Sega Genesis games with third party controllers, especially the Ascii joystick that I had (which broke a few years ago). This is kind of a rerun of the same issue with the Genesis Mini (which actually had a few titles that needed all six buttons), while Japan got the 6-button controller, the US and Canada only received the 3-button because nostalgia trumps practicality, I guess. |

I always pay my $20 a year so that I can participate in Splatfest events for Splatoon games. |

Yeah, it's annoying to see (Japan is getting the 6 button controller again), but it's probably Sega's call since it's the same as the mini. Not sure why they keep going this route. Though tbh, neither version is worth $50. There are quality 3rd party versions for less that will work just fine. I think the N64 is probably fair at $50, but if the SNES can be $30, why is the Genesis $50? |

Do they realize people are already playing these games on a modern console

Do you realize the average consumer either doesn't know or care for emulation?
Convenience is king to the average consumer. It's why people will buy a less powerful device if it's cheaper or portable. Or buy a more expensive option, like ordering food online, if it means they don't have to cook or clean up, i.e., work. So an hour and $19 is far more work than a lot of people are willing to do versus tapping a few buttons on Switch online. Why do you think old games get ports on IOS/App stores? |
