With how popular this franchise is, I'm not surprised it's getting a movie, although I don't know enough about the Light Novels to think about what they might cover.

Gotta find it fascinating that some people are somewhat turned off by movie announcements, including me honestly. Considering the track record of many spin-off-ish, non-canon, insignificant, side-story-ish movie adaptations. In the end it only makes the wait for the next season longer. I think this title doesn't seem to be something that makes people worried if they'll be getting another season, seeing how popular it is.
Anyway, they might announce it later to be adapting a canon material (at least something like Jujutsu Kaisen movie) which I doubt, but otherwise I'd personally be more excited. Although some people would still be disappointed since that still means longer wait for another season.

Probably won't be for a while since they don't want the anime to overtake the manga as the manga sells better than the LN.

I don't know why people act like anime franchises getting movies is a new thing that Demon Slayer made. Back in the day big franchises like DBZ, Bleach, Naruto and Inuyasha got a new movie like every year.

Few people seem to remember those days. Recency bias is a thing, sadly. It was good fun looking forward to what the new movie would be, what they'd add the lore, even if it was often only tenuously related to the series proper. It's a fun series, so I'm looking forward to it.

If people only care about rushing through plot points and not appreciating Slime as an anime adaptation, they can just read the light novels which are easily available in English.
