Oh nice! I liked the manga for this and now I can see the movie!
I hate Sakurako as a character though, and not because she's a girl in a BL anime, either. She's the reason I absolutely cannot stand the sequel manga.

Funimation and Shochiku are getting along really well right now! Makes me wonder about Aria the Crepuscolo to be honest (still a little chance it could go to Nozomi, but both companies work with NYAV Post...).

Absolutely amazing to hear Umibe getting licensed, guess I have an excuse to watch it a second time lol
Edit: Also great to see that they cast an LGBT actor as Shun, though I'd prefer if both main roles were LGBT cast (I could be wrong about Briner though, I'm not very familiar with him) (movie ending spoilers) and it could technically work out considering what Mio said at the end of the movie? That was kind of weird though and I feel like something was lost in translation...

Haven't seen the movie yet but pleasantly surprised it's getting a dub. FUNi getting actual LGBT people to work on it is even better. I'll be sure to watch it dubbed!

Dub's also directed by a gay man, David Wald.

I audibly gasped I’m so happy it got licensed here and is getting a dub!

Dubbed as well! This is definitely going to help attract an audience outside of people who have been following this title for a while, which is really good.

Awesomeness. I hope more stuff like this get dubbed. It's a very beautiful film.

I think even more notably, David Wald is an ADR director who has consistently pushed studios to license and invest in (i.e. spend the time and money dubbing) more LGBT projects for years. He's been pretty vocal in interviews about how much of an uphill battle it can be, especially for more niche titles, and you can tell its something he's passionate about. I'd say his experiences would actually make for a pretty interesting interview, but I think he's done a fair amount for other outlets within the past couple years.
Some of the shows he's directed include Love Stage, Bloom Into You (which has a fantastic dub btw), Hitorijime My Hero, and Kase-san and Morning Glories.

Never enough people like that in the dubbing world. As a gay man, I find the amount of LGBT titles that are subbed-only or unlicensed especially heartbreaking.
I tend to watch more subs than dubs, but I'll definitely have to check out some of his other work!
