Ritcher is not the old protagnist's son but their descendant, there is 300 year gap between them as castlevania is set in the 1400's this is at the end of the 1700's
but besides that i look forward to this.

Edit: Corrections made.
I'm guessing this series will adapt Rondo, Symphony, and possibly even Nocturne. This way the focus can shift to antagonists other than Dracula, (Shaft and Magnus) and Alucard can appear again.

Awesome news. If it's half as good as Castlevania I'll be more than happy

I was kind of figuring they wouldn't adapt Curse of Darkness with Hector (as it is they loosely adapted it, I guess) and it makes sense to go to Richter, but I wonder if they'll acknowledge Simon at all.
I'm also curious how they'll use Dracula and the actual castle this season.

I wish they had one focused on Simon.
He’s great.

That was never even a game, it was a bunch of backstory. You can't adapt something that was never made in the first place. Enough
Anyway, I figured they would go for the Dracula X games since they're by far the most popular in the series. It'll be interesting to see how they use the French Revolution setting and how they'll deal with Maria basically being a magical girl.

If we got by the games. Richters adventures will directly lead to Symphony, giving Alucard full power. Then again, the game has been changed, so who knows what will happen.

How do you adapt something that doesn't exist?
Not to mention that Battle Of 1999 is supposed to essentially be the final battle against Dracula and with their being a bunch of story in between that's not something you would or should immediately jump to.

0% chance they'll keep Maria the same. Doubt this team would stand for a funny magical girl loli in their super serious show with tons of swearing and edgy jokes.

Maria was funny if you like the concept of irreverent characters in video games which may very well be why they tweaked her design, personality, & her ending in DXC. Only good thing about Maria in the original ROB was that she made the game easier.

If this is adapting Rondo of Blood Alucard not being in would make sense as he wasn't in the original game.

I would say since Maria's one of the most important characters of the franchise they'd have to do her justice, but I suppose they really don't given how they handled the Curse of Darkness stuff by retconning everything with Hector and Isaac and how they changed Alucard.
I always loved Maria's Victorian kunoichi and magical girl aesthetic and found her to be one of the most interesting characters in the series. it would be a shame for them to abandon that but the Japanese and anime aesthetic probably isn't western friendly enough for them and Rondo is when the anime tropes and aesthetic start popping up in the franchise.
