Welp, earlier The Canipa Effect was speculating that this film might be the "whole 3D anime utilizing full motion capture for the visuals." Ishiguro was referring to in an interview back in 2020 and it looks like he was right...

A full CG production.
Utilizing full motion capture.
At a studio that's mainly worked in modeling and has never handled a full animated production before.

Why does that sound eerily familiar? (I'm not necessarily saying that it's guaranteed to be as bad as EX-ARM was, but this is rather concerning.)

Wouldn't it be something like the Awakening/Fates games?
