Weird. You'd think verified business accounts would be exempt from things like this since they're not personal accounts

Well, after all business accounts don't usually need to input the date of birth, because they are the account of a product or a company, or belong to people well above the minimum age required for Twitter! In the end you are never sure how things are implemented in an online service. |

Twitter: Hey this fictional character is under 13. So we need to lock it.
The majority of us: hey Twitter we are calling your bs. Twitter: oh yeah you're right. |

As a reminder, Twitter could easily block all Nazis from using their service -- the maintain a list of Nazi accounts because they're legally required to filter them in Germany -- but they're too busy blocking accounts for fictional characters that set their birthdates wrong.

Hope ANN is able to get their main account back at some point, Twitter's age restrictions are ridiculous. "Oh, turns out you weren't 13 when you made your account you're now suspended for lying". Like come on, what is that really supposed to do?

Wow, 100% legit thanks for this. I didn't even know this was a thing.
It seems pretty clear that Twitter isn't actually doing this for the sake of their users or whatever, but to keep their asses from being sued because of new legal requirements. So instead of trying to think up an actual user-friendly solution, they just decided to ban anyone who could potentially be a problem, probably because it's easier and cheaper. That's just capitalism, I guess. |

They could block and ban all the doxxers too, but "strangely" they don't do it very often... |

CNN dox an old lady showing her house and didn't blur the address, Twitter don't suspend CNN. Social media (SNS) is just big tech oligarchs' playground. |

This situation is stupid, they know better. They overall could moderate things better but choose not to.
