If a Berserk film was ever made, it would need a lot more money than Netflix money.

After seeing that berserk reference in castlevania, guess people have more confidence that Netflix can do a proper adaptation than the other ones did.

I mean those 4°C movies were pretty dope (at least I liked them more than the original TV show).

Maybe they are actually making one but in order to be as faithful as possible to the manga they are already taking dozens of hiatus

"This is a joke"

Man, I saw that as clear as day...

Even if ANN didn't report it, I guess I would've been suspicious anyhow.

People who do this should be backlisted from the industry permanently. No ifs, ands, or buts. In this era, trying to manufacture this sort of nonsense to promote yourself only to cover it with a "lol, J/K!" is reprehensible.

With Netflix being such an easy target due to their live-action versions of anime like Death Note, BLEACH and Fullmetal Alchemist (though the latter two were only distributed by them), perople are very inclined to believe anything. It reminds me of some artists who made redesigns of old animated shows as fanart but other people took their art without their permission and added a Netflix logo and many fell for the joke, while others began to complain. I think that kind of joke isn't very funny because it spreads false information and sometimes people attack the original artists who were only having some fun.

Jeez, that seems a bit harsh. The original post made it clear it was a joke, it was only when people cropped out the "This is a joke" and started spreading it around that people thought it was real. Blacklisting from the industry permanently over a bit of fun?

A live action movie could be easily done with these elements: get Takashi Miike as the director, get a high budget, take the story from the first volumes, get decent western actors, get the best cgi and visual effects people available, shake everything together and you would have a blockbuster!

You have to be pretty gulible if you fell for something that obviously looked like it was made by a 1st semester graphic design student.

That being said, that cheap, plastic-looking armor design does look like something that would have been made by Netflix.

Wasn't the castlevania studio on record a few years ago saying they would like to do a berserk series one day? I said it then and I'll say it again "I WOULD BE SO DOWN FOR THAT"

I actually really liked the Golden Age film trilogy. Wished they had continued it. Heck would be really neat if Netflix did help fund a sequel set of films.

To be honest, I'm not sure why people think Berserk is inherently more unadaptable to live action than any other anime or manga series. It has a European fantasy style inspired setting so they don't have to worry about casting controversies as much, the plot isn't that much more complicated than any other Western dark fantasy novel series we've had in recent years. Just do it as a live action TV show with a high budget and a good cast and director and a TVMA rating and it's not that impossible to make. I can think of plenty of other anime and manga that would be harder to adapt as live action than Berserk. But yeah this was obviously a joke and it's frustrating how quickly people fall for bogus information on social media.

I’d honestly prefer animation in general. As i prefer it more. But sure a live action berserk film can indeed be done right. Either way CG would have to play a role in it.

If i had my way I’d have MAPPA or Studio WIT do it. Or Fredereator do it. The animated adaptation that is

Now that Miura has passed away, I wonder who has the rights of Berserk...who can decide what to do with anime or live action adaptations.
