The list of nominated-but-not-yet-inducted indicates that she's in good company, and that, in some sense, there's no shame in not having been inducted yet. |

I don't think she'll get in this time, but agreed. It's a strong lineup, as is typical for this award. |

I hope she makes it. More recognition for shōjo manga artists, please!
Machiko Hasegawa was the first female manga artist to receive the Medal with Purple Ribbon; Hagio, on the other hand, was the first shōjo manga artist to receive the medal. The Comic Natalie article that ANN sourced for its 2012 article corrected this mistake in a later edit (see the red text). |
