E3 being digital wasn't going to entice any company that bailed to come back. If anything, it solidifies the decision not to participate since a company like Sony can do its own livestream, get plenty of eyes, and not have to pay a dime to the ESA. The last in-person E3 had Microsoft participating but doing its show in a different venue. Same thing happened with the PC games showcase that Epic sponsored.

I've heard plenty of smaller developers say being there in-person is important when it comes to networking to find a publisher, but the show priced itself to where it was forcing out small companies and the big companies that could afford it didn't get the same benefits.

First of all, bravo on the title for this week's column!

Resident Evil Village: I thought RE VII was a masterpiece, so getting a direct sequel taking control of Ethan Winters again was already enough to lock me in. On top of whatever new hell Ethan is gonna go through, the supernatural angle is going to address the lack of enemy variety issue that VII has. Also, if it wasn't obvious by now, Village is blatantly trying to be a successor to RE4 in the way that VII is to the original game. Speaking of, it's very nice that Mercenaries Mode is being included when it very easily could have been a DLC add-on like all the fun arcade-y stuff in VII was. Right now, all signs point to Village being something special.

KOF XV: Unfortunately like with Lady Dimitrescu, all the meme-y Internet thirst overshadows some top class character design work. Not only has Shermie gotten the biggest visual overhaul so far, but gameplay-wise she basically went to Home Depot and got herself a brand new tool kit to compliment all her moves. Shermie brought the substance along with style this week. That said, it's surprising how measured Mai week was compared this week with Shermie. Seriously, fan art is getting cranked out by the hour for this woman.

GBVS: Have to be honest, Eustace looks far more interesting than I initially thought. It's also always nice to see GBVS players get something, as it's been a rough road for the game. And sadly, it doesn't look like my Kamen Rider stand-in Nicholas Robomi is going to make it in this season.

I feel Lady D has already been thrown in our faces too much but I like that means more mystery for the other villains. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with them. Latest trailer was great. [/list]

That bloomberg thing was bogus. The company already confirmed they ahevn't recieved offers. So, you can rest at ease. Source: Gematsu's twitter: https://twitter.com/gematsucom/status/1383037366886150152

E3 -- and all the other "events" like it -- are Dead. Deal with it.
