Nice!
I wonder if they'll get their famous band to do the soundtrack again...and also get PCB Productions on board to do the dub.

Yeah, I'm not sure how many of the actual game cast will be in this, but I think it would make sense to have PCB dub the anime like they did the game, similar to the P5 anime.

Wow this is exciting - the story and art style always seemed like it was set up for an anime.
I didn't watch the announcement segment but anyone catch when the anime's story will be in the sequence of the 4 Trails games? The article just says it will focus on western Zemuria but maybe we're not gonna get be getting the anime from Rean's perspective, unless it's a retelling of the story from the games?

The Trails series is pretty massive and Cold Steel in the third and fourth titles were already pulling in tons of other characters from other Trails games, so I'd guess that effectively the anime could go into any of the other countries not really divulged into in Cold Steel, such as Jurai or Ambria. Both of those locations had characters that appeared in small capacities in Cold Steel. There's also the upcoming Kuro no Kiseki game which is supposed to have some small ties into Cold Steel and part of the overall Trails series.
Regardless, this seemed like a real out of left field announcement. I figured as much as Falcom has been focusing on just pushing out games that something like an anime wasn't even on their radar.

Awesome!
Played the demo on Switch. Was pretty good. Hopefully this anime series will be, too.

Neat. Is it just ToCS? Would be cool, if it does really well, to also see some solid anime adaptations of Sky and Zero/Ao. The 50-min or what-have-you OVAs of Sky from way back would've worked a lot better in extended show form, I think.

If it's trails of cold steel 12-13 episode ain't enough. Better be 25-26.

While I love Falcom's games, the writing for them was never their strong point for them. The character stuff is fine, but they rely a bit too much on cliches for the stories. Also RPG's don't translate all that well into shows, since it eliminates the roleplaying aspect these games thrive on,along with them condescending the plot into bullet points.

Thats what Im hoping for as well. the series has so much lore that it honestly will feel like God of Highscool with the pacing if its just 12 eps.

Not sure how I feel about this. Cold Steel 1 was one of the weakest parts of this franchise in my opinion. While it makes sense to choose this over older entries, I think Trails in the Sky would've worked better in anime format for people, who haven't played the series yet.

If I remember correctly Trails in the Sky does have a 2-part OVA, even if it's not that great.
Anyways, can't wait to see my waifu Laura in full animation.

I thought the Sky trilogy had pretty decent writing, and Zero, too (haven't played Ao yet). They do rely heavily on copy/pasting character and quest archetypes; that became a lot more obvious (and, frankly, a bit hard to ignore) when I started playing Zero /ToCS after Sky. But, the main storyline in Sky was pretty compelling, IMO, and Zero's has a lot of promise, from what I can tell.
ToCS 1-2 I thought were less well-written (and I felt its attempt to constantly cast a certain set of folks as 'neutral' was a cowardly and ineffective writing choice; also, the Persona mechanic and high school setting focus were shallow & obnoxious, in my opinion), but the world-building was still first-rate. I think if they take some liberties with the dialogue details (which they'll have to, in any event) it could still turn out quite engaging. (EDIT: No comments on later ToCS; waiting until I can play through a translated Ao, or read Japanese well enough to play through it myself, to do ToCS 3 and later.)
