KnY this, KnY that. So annoying.
Anyway, the song is nothing special, just like the rest of her songs.

Did a bunch of clean up. Newsflash people, others can have a different opinion than yours without being insulted. If someone doesn't enjoy her music that's their prerogative. That doesn't mean you get to insult them because you do like it. So leave the insults at the door.

This is an increasingly common "issue" as generations go by. But, in this case, I think the problem is more to do with the counter-balance that usually occurs when you have a series like this take off in popularity. A number of folks tend to come out of the woodwork to voice whatever gripes they have for the subject in question, usually by over-generalizing certain elements to create a oversimplified image of the work as being generic. This commonly leads to semi-logical critiques (such as saying a widely famous and popular artist securing a no.1 hit is merely riding the coattails of an anime movie) that result in tribalism where "everyone" is either staunchly for or against the subject. This was common enough back in the day, it gets amplified now by the power of social media. Since the source material is already at an end, these folks can't latch on to that to pick at the continuation or claim that the author kept going and ruined the series by doing so. So instead in this case they only dismiss any positive news about it.
As noted, so much of what is out there right now is either airy fluff, or cynical attempts at deconstructing various genres, that for whatever reason gets taken up in social media as a wholesale rejection of the past entries in the critiqued genre. KnY effectively delivers a simple and evocative message without attempting to scold anyone with half-baked musings about concepts they aren't interested in answering themselves, or making believe its story is some magnum opus of writing just because it throws about senseless plot twists, or pointlessly overcomplicated setups for their story, or thinking it needs to flash sex appeal every other scene.

Pretty impressive to win such a high award. Still, from my non-fan perspective I think "From the Edge" is the more interesting song.
