Well, James, you are in a treat; since Panda (yes that is his name) is gonna be the candidate for the most wholesome and lovable characters of the season, no exaggeration. Take a shot every time you see God of High School.
Jujutsu Kaisen's been a stellar anime thus far and I've got every reason to assume it'll stay that way. It's obvious like it was watching Kaguya S2 that everyone involved really loves the show, whether it's the action scenes with rubble taking out the camera or the side comedy with all the students dabbing on the coach. Thank heavens it's got 26 episodes. spoiler[Looking forward to Nobu's role, I haven't seen him in a villainous role so that'll be fun to watch.] |

My first reaction when I saw Nobara was that she's actually wearing a normal length skirt, knowing that the creator is female makes a lot of sense now lol |

I could be wrong (I've never read the manga), but since they showed the sign about the faulty bridge more than once, I think that might have caused a car accident involving Saori when she left town. |

This show is great! I didn't know anything about it, never heard much, and was almost going to skip it considering it to be some low-tier shonen thing, but I gave the first episode a shot and oh boy was it good. The animation and production is great. I love well animated fight scenes and GoH was good in that department, but it just goes to show that the crew on that were working with bad source material, but can obviously excel when given something great to work on.
I don't think that was ever in doubt. What I feel people had a problem with was the idea of just supporting creators based solely on their sex or to meet some new intellegentsia insistence on quotas for representation's sake. This is an insult to the real talented people out there. People will embrace good creators because they are good. I do agree that there is a kind of backward thinking that shonen needs to be 'short skirts and panty shots' in order to sell and that female creators will be hesitant about doing this stuff to the point of cliche. I personally hate that stuff and fell it demeans the male audience. Attractive female characters in shonen works can find fans because they are 'cool.' And more often its the ones that break with the stale formulas that find fans. There's always a bit of remixing involved to make a character likable, and I feel this show's introduction of the female lead in ep3 nailed it just right. It feels fresh, and yet there are many elements in her design and character that are familiar. It helps that the show itself sets our expectations where the kind of people involved in this line of work need to be a little 'crazy.' So someone with her kind of attitude fits the bill, and she also demonstrates the 'moral framework' when she sets aside her weapons to help someone exposing herself to danger, and the same male audience who loves that in the shonen lead also see that element in her. She's proud and arrogant, but this is made into a strength that is played for laughs and contrasts well with the lead. You want to see more of her interacting with them and how things will turn out. I imagine that she will even be relatable to audiences that do live out in the countryside too. So from that respect it's also good to have characters with traits that are relatable. It's well done. |

I didn't sense her backstory/flashback was forced at all.
The only thing that seemed off was her cursing the fact that she was in her new dilemma. I suppose it goes with her personality that is a bit on the ends near the extreme. Other than that, I'm glad we got to see some reality in a situation like that. It's the logical choice that I knew she wouldn't make that brought the whole backstory/flashback together. I always felt the next episode (when read via manga) came a little too soon but I found out that was intentional. Well, I partially found out. I didn't finish reading the manga to figure out if the next episode was intentionally a preemptive spoiler[execution]. It's only implied from the conversations as far as I've read. I really hope episode 4 isn't actually the first half of the next chapter. It'd be a real PITA to wait another week for episode 5 where things finally start moving along. |

I actually thought episode three was the best episode so far. Sure, it was the most visually stunning, but in terms of character I think it was a wonderful character introduction episode. We are allowed to see Kugisaki for who she is, what her motivations are, and where her morality is centered. All of this happened in a situation that would make sense for this sort of information to be addressed. She is abrasive and proud, but has strong morals.

I was liking this show just fine until episode 3 when Nobara was introduced...
By god what an insufferable bitch! I haven't hated a female character this much since Sakura! There's a difference between strong and confident and simply being a massive tool and Nobara very much falls into the latter. And at the end of the episode I was hoping she was gonna come around but no she was still a turd. It's still early on so hopefully she will either A) ease off or B) die horribly and be replaced by someone more tolerable because at this point I actually find her so intensely unlikable I'm seriously considering dropping the show because of her. |

Just a heads up, but we don’t know this. The creator’s gender has never actually been officially revealed, so there’s been a lot of speculation either way. But there hasn’t been anything confirmed in regards to this. |

This is a solid Shonen Jump anime and is gorgeously animated.
Since it’s very textbook example of Shonen action genre, I’m going to make some major plot predictions based on the first volume of the manga and the first 3 episodes (this is all speculation; NOT based on spoilers from the manga): 1. Yuji’s parents will be revealed as super powerful Jujutsu sorcerers who probably died fighting the good fight. I’m guessing they asked Grandpa (probably a former sorcerer himself) to protect him from that world, but when he realized Yuji’s strength and his own mortality, he planted the motivation for Yuji to become a warrior on purpose 2. When I was reading the manga, I didn’t like Nobara’s attitude, but while watching the 3rd episode I noticed something: normal people (the model agency scout, the kid she saved) avoid her; they seem to not even want to look at her. I assume this has something to do with her curse, and that she’s painfully aware of it. She puts on a front of thinking of herself as a beautiful snob to shield herself from constant rejection. She’s also sick of her curse and all the powers and some of the responsibilities it entails. I kinda hope my theory of her character is true because seeing her arrogance and vanity as a front makes her easier to take. 3. My theory on Nobara’s friend Saori I’ll put in spoilers spoiler[ Saori isn’t dead; she was possessed by a curse, and when they meet again in Tokyo it’s gonna be tragic] |

Your probably right but I hope it's not the case. I much prefer story about ordinary people rising up to special circumstance rather than story about character who were always going to be special and the only thing that could prevent that is themselves being too awful at everything. |
