I think this could be due in part to YTV (Youth Television) picking up the series and showing it, often even in hour-long blocks of two episodes or even more. I seem to recall watching the first few episodes of Inu Yasha almost by accident too. Pretty cool.

(This is the same channel that I was watching Sailor Moon on back when I was 9 years old because they'd have it among their after-school series of programs which led, of course, to an insatiable interest in anime).

Yeah... they picked it up in the fall, I think and it's on every now and then. According to the website, it's on Friday's at 10pm (and I believe they repeat the episode(s) at 1am because that's when I saw em): http://www.ytv.com/programming/shows/inuyasha/index.asp?showID=215

Yeah, Inu-Yasha appears to be the most popular new show from the fall. Most likely because it's the first anime that isn't called Yu-Gi-Oh! or Beyblade to debut in four years.

I don't think YTV was expecting an uncut anime to be big at all. They've learned their lesson.[/i]
