It feels like Atsushi Saito is trying to emulate Asako Nishida's adaptation of Murota's original character designs, but something feels a little off; it's probably the size of the heads or the hair and eye color scheme. Frankly, I kind of wished it looked more like the girls found in Black Fox. |

I know Love Live has been criticized for being too same facey but I feel like even with those issues they still have usually made the characters look distinct and stand out. I'm hesitant to judge this too harshly this early in the production but these designs do look fairly typical to me.

I am very underwhelmed by the character design. It looks bland and boring. But it could have been worse. They could look like those butt-ugly women from a western AAA video game. The orange girl Kanon looks cute and nice, though. I love her snazzy hair bang.

i can't believe "these teenage girls have bad designs because none of them make my peepee big" is an unironic critique i just had to read lmao. love live fandom truly does stay the same until the end of time.
Anyway, I'm excited! i've liked Kanon's design ever since I saw the initial preview and all these girls are super cute. I just wanna protect em!!! Something about the eye designs is giving me big Pripara vibes too, which is interesting. |

There's a difference between wanting to "Waifu" a character and them doing such a thing as you describe. Honestly, it's probably just this art but they all just look goofy AF. Hopefully the next piece of art is better |

I think they look so boring because of the art style and muted colour scheme? Their actual designs are pretty cute if you try and look past it.
I actually really liked Love Live's super-vibrant palette, it's much more fun and fitting of an idol story and the characters shone individually much better. I'd assume this was a slice of life series if I didn't know it was LL... |
