I've done a little investigation, searching for some kind of physical, monthly delivered magazine to subscribe to that focuses on seinen anime and manga reviews.
I haven't had any real results yet. All I've been able to come across is "Animerica" which is owned by VIZ and seems to only review VIZ material, which isn't that bad and is a start, but I would just rather subscribe to a magazine that covered all new seinen manga and anime, no matter what company put it together. Has anyone got a lead for me? But if there isn't any real English magazine out there that fits this description, there will always be this website. Seriously, I wish AnimeNewsNetwork would publish one! |

Sheesh! Of course as soon as I post this, I find a couple interesting magazines!
NewType USA Seems to cover manga and anime in general, covering all sub-categories. Wikipedia states that its full of columns, manga, fiction, television schedules and art. Protoculture Addicts This might be exactly what I'm looking for, simply because it appears to cover a decent amount of seinen material. And also "In 2005, with Issue #82, Protoculture Addicts became Anime News Network's Protoculture Addicts, a sister publication to popular anime news and information website Anime News Network." What a freaking coincidence, I had no idea. Anyone have experience and/or comments on these two, or have anymore to mention? Please do! |

You're a little late - NewType USA has just ceased to exist. animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-01-09/newtype-usa-to-cease-publication |

Starting next month. PiQ is its replacement if you're interested, Panzerkunst. Apparently it's aimed at 70/30 males to females anyway, so you could say that still counts as seinen. If not, you could pick up back issues which had a lot more focus on the things I think you're looking for. I'd highly recommend it anyway. I'm sure you'd like PA (which has been around a while) and Otaku USA (which is relatively new) as well. |
