Eight weeks is the best case scenario. The Olympics are done.

Experts are now saying at BEST this will peak in May. Comiket will be canceled for sure. This will more than likely be a major problem into the Fall.

Meanwhile, about 144 people have recovered in Japan.

At this point, it's best to put all of the money and manpower towards Winter Comiket especially if more big names drop out.
Regardless, the Olympics are either cancelled or sent to London last minute.

I don't think the concern is as much about people catching the virus from Japan as it's all the other countries full of possibly-infected people going *to* Japan and kicking off a new wave of infections. :/

I've seen a lot of stores and places in Japan turning away foreigners. I mean, more the usual that is. Like, they have signs that outright say it's because of coronavirus that foreigners aren't allowed to patron their establishments.

The problem for them is telling Asians apart. Some features might be distinctive on some, but a lot of Chinese and Koreans look indistinguishable from Japanese. How are they going to enforce those rules until it is too late?

I still think most people are overreacting, but cancelling Comiket might be the right decision. Not only because it's a huge event on a scale second to almost none, but also because many of the visitors are die hard fans that would possibly attend even in sickness.

We will find out about May 24. They said they will wait until then to make the decision as it marks the 2 month mark where athletes and media have to start heading over

So they could just hold Comiket at the normal time then!
