"Wow, it's over five minutes..." "...of clips from the first two seasons." I don't mind the 3DCG and I liked the second season more than the first, but it's a bit awkward to show clips from the hand drawn first season when you're promoting another CG sequel.

Garupa Pico was definitely better than 2nd season.
And if it's as choppy and ugly as second was, I DO mind CG. Not that I liked the story 100% focusing only one member. |

Yeah, you made it clear the CG ruined it for you, as it did for a lot of people. I wouldn't say the story was focused at all, well, PoPiPa's story was, but they almost took a back seat to everyone else in S2 (and I was fine with that). Though I haven't played the game, I at least knew the characters via Pastel Life and Garupa Pico, and I had more fun seeing them than the "main characters." By contrast, guys I know who'd only seen the first season felt that S2 was all over the place trying to introduce all the girls in the other bands, each band getting an episode of its own, and they couldn't keep up at all. Considering they seemingly still don't know who most of the characters are at this point, if they watch S3 I doubt it'll go much better for them. S2 onward is... maybe not the best way to advertise the game, if that's even still the goal at this point.
If the main goal is to increase the already large existing audience's engagement with the franchise, it seems to be doing well, considering the large jump in MAL score from S1 to S2 (bigger than the usual jump any satisfactory sequel typically gets due to detractors stopping after S1). https://myanimelist.net/anime/33573/BanG_Dream https://myanimelist.net/anime/37869/BanG_Dream_2nd_Season |

And I was pretty familiar with the franchise by the time I watched S2... |

MAL ratings are useful as an indicator how how well the moderate-to-hardcore anime fanbase in the west likes a show overall (counting only those who actually watched 1/5 or more of it), but seldom have any value as a measure of actual comparative quality. It's not just MAL:
