What? The beginning piece is far from melancholy. It's actually kind of funny at the end of it all. I don't see the point you're trying to make in regards to that. So what if the song is upbeat, why do people need something ot get them down before the actual story takes place (even if it's kind of a downer).

If I'm remembering the beginning of CoS correctly (which I may not be; I thought it was a complete train wreck of a movie, thus the lack of rewatches), it starts with spoiler[Ed and Al in the alchemy world blowing up Huskisson's castle after he shows them the uranium bomb, then doing a five-second reader's digest version of the plot.] Then we see that the whole thing was Ed telling a story to spoiler[Alphonse Heiderich. Ed crashes their car into a ditch, then they get picked up by the gypsies, Noah is introduced, then the gypsy ladies start singing.] Finally we get to the opening credits. By then we've gotten the general impression of Ed's loneliness and desire to spoiler[get back home], and suddenly we're confronted with this upbeat tune that seems like it would have fit better before the initial bout of silliness concerning spoiler[the thing with Huskisson].

....But this has gone really off topic Anime hyper

"Link" seems more nostalgic to me, maybe because of the TV series being shown throughout the opening animation. I wouldn't say it's "upbeat," but I can't really think of a word to use as a replacement. It's really catchy. I just get this really strong urge to think when I listen to this song. Wow, I'm so incredibly cheesy. Laughing

We do see that Edward is lonely but it's not like he's depressed. Overall, what I mean is that it's not as melancholy to the point where the theme song is out of place. Also I do agree in regards to the animation, it was awesome. It was nostalgic to a point because it showed many significant moments in the series.

Yeah, I'm with you. Nostalgic is a good word. I think that's the sentimental sort of feeling that really wrenches at me when I listen to the song that makes me really like it so much. And can't say I could call it upbeat either.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. It wasn't droopy or anything but it wasn't really a "Ready Steady Go" kind of song. Laughing It's just catchy. Laughing

I think I'm going to change and reduce my top 10 that I listed before. Especially since I got my hands on several albums, "True", "Smile" and "Awake", and a couple singles - "Winter Fall" and "Dive to Blue".

In no specific order:

"Ready Steady Go"
"Fourth Avenue Cafe"
"Winter Fall"
"Hitomi no Jyuunin - Living in Your Eyes"
"Blurry Eyes"

There are others of course but I just love these songs and feel that each one could easily be considered L'Arc classics.

No one mentioned...

Finale

As if in a dream

Stay away

Spirit dreams inside
All great songs by the way

I read something from, some Japanese something (it's like an institution or meusim that brings Japanese culture to Mexico, just can't recall the name)located in Mexico stated that "they had the cards over the table" and had some proposition to take L'Arc~en~Ciel to mexico in '08. So...when is Laruku coming to the U.S. Mad

I like almost all OP/ED songs from anime that Larc en Ciel performs, and recently i heard the OP for Gundam 00, "Daybreak's Bell" and it doesn't sound like a typical LeC song, which is kind of upbeat (at least the ones i've heard), this has kind of a darker feeling to it, but i'm loving it, can't stop listening

I love the old Laruku... I like their songs Claustrophobia (Shutting from the Sky), Vivid Colors and Flood of Tears yet I also love newer melodies like Hitomi no Jyuunin and Jojoushi. You can really hear Hyde's voice from these songs...

Yeah L'arc is just amazing, i was just amazed by the OP song "Daybreaker's Bell" of Gundam 00. Its got to be my favorite song out of all of his songs, i hope he can come up with better songs later on in his career
