Okay, so this may end up just being me in a room alone answering my own questions (not uncommon in my case lol), but I'll give this a try.
I have a list of 40 questions related to shipping. I'll answer one and then choose a number for the next person to answer. Anyone interested in answering can do so and then choose a number for the next person to answer. And so on and so forth. Or, hey, if anyone here is really dying to answer specific questions on their own, I ain't gonna ruin your party, so go ahead. Maybe I'll find more of these questions lists and make other threads. I imagine they're more for places like twitter where followers ask the poster to respond to numbers, but I think it could be adapted to a forum. ----------
Me: #26 I'm a big fan of dynamic duos/tag teams/partners in life and love (whatever words/tropes represent partners who are friends, lovers, and buddies who work together). Those duos I end up shipping the most whether they're canon or not. Also, I prefer healthy, equal relationships. Once relationships become abusive or dubcon dom/sub, then I check out. Examples:

Oh hey, me alone in a room answering my own questions. I could just let this die, but I'm shameless enough to continue answering all the questions, so I will.
Me: 6. How do you feel about love triangles? Hate 'em. I love romance in general, but I often dislike when the romance drives a majority of the conflict in a series. Some of the most egregious tropes that I dislike:

Yes I do. Most of Ships that I like are completely canon. Three that come to mind are: Kirito and Asuna, Renton and Eureka, and Yuji and Shana. Next person to answer:#10. |

And alone in my room I am the last of a lost civilization And I vanish into the dark And rise above my station Rise above my station Anyway, I never 'ship' characters as a rule, except for Nermal to Abu Dhabi*, but I can see the appeal of shipping characters who have never met, because it makes use of the viewer's more-or-less omniscience and lets one play with toys that the characters, with their mere mortal perception, lack. It's also, at least until the narrative created by the writers gets in the way, to engage with a story more personally without disrupting it, as the relationship is purely speculative. That's why I ship Ty Lee x Cabbage Merchant. I'm pretty sure that they never met; it has been... more than a decade?!? Oh, mercy, send help... or gin. Actually, just send gin. Hmmm. I'd want to be spoiler[Anthy doted on and spoiled by Utena.] At the end of the Utena TV series. Not during the show.

The thread, it has a heart beat! It liiiiiiiiiives!
5. Do you have any poly ships? One? (I feel like there may have been another, but I can't recall). A ship would have to be introduced as poly for me to like it. Rose/Nine/Jack (Dr. Who) is the only one I can think of. While Rose and Nine were together first, the romance in the show didn't really kick in until Jack was in the picture. And all 3 of them fit together so well, it felt like an equal loving relationship between all 3. Otherwise, I'm an exclusive monogamous shipper. Introducing more to the party ruins the romance. I have nothing against other people enjoying it, it's just not my thing. I wouldn't mind coming across another canon poly relationship in a series tho'. Next person: #1
Hi, SA! Good to see you around again! How's life going? Ty Lee x Cabbage Merchant sounds like it could be a pretty interesting dynamic. I'd read a fanfic of it! |

39. Is there a fictional relationship you’d really want for yourself?
Romance-wise? Nothing is really sticking out or coming to mind. I could only ever see myself in one of those relationships with a close friend. So I guess any close-friends-who-eventually-find-themselves-in-love-with-one-another. Next person: #11 |
