Correct The first twenty minutes are possibly the most gut-wrenching anime scenes I've ever watched - up there with the burning house scene in Barefoot Gen. Different though, in that the characters aren't at risk of dying, but their situation is both dreadful and seemingly hopeless. The rest of the film relates how spoiler[the family picks itself up from the depths of despair.] So, how did you figure it out? |

I searched the encyclopedia for pages with the word spoiler[deaf], and that anime showed up and seemed likely. So I looked up images from it, and even though there wasn't much online about it, I found one image that had that character in that outfit. Here is the next character:
