Apparently, the Arcade Collection is listed as being "Powered by Arcade Archives", so Konami just took the easy way out & is re-releasing Hamster's Arcade Archives releases via a single collection. In that case it is a shame, but considering that the only Konami ACA release I currently have is Haunted Castle, I'll likely still be grabbing this collection at some point.

As for the Castlevania & Contra Collections, those definitely have more of my interest. The description for the former distinctly says that it's "the first Castlevania collection", indicating that there will be at least one more, so it's possible that we'll be getting a "ClassicVania" release & a "MetroidVania" release. In that case, I'm hoping that the four unannounced games for the Castlevania Collection will be Simon's Quest, Bloodlines, Rondo of Blood, & Adventure ReBirth. That way, a possible second collection could contain Symphony of the Night, Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia, & (to round things out) one of the versions of Castlevania 64.

In regards to the Contra Collection, though, I am more curious from a roster standpoint, simply because there really isn't as much Contra to choose from. Considering how NES Contra has been continually ignored for over a decade, there might be some sort of legal issue, similar to how Nintendo legally couldn't re-release the original arcade version of Donkey Kong until recently, due to the company that did the actual development itself. Of course, the reason why it's not on the Wii VC, Wii U VC, or NES Classic might be because a stupid clerical error, so who knows. Besides that, though, what else is there to really be worth including?

There's Hard Corps, sure, but I'm sure no one's going to want Legacy of War or C: The Contra Adventure. Shattered Soldier & Neo Contra might clash a bit too much with the older games already announced, though I guess Contra 4 could be a choice. Contra ReBirth is a definite (though that would only make me want a future Gradius Collection, if only so that all three ReBirth games would see re-release), & maybe Hard Corps: Uprising. Should be interesting to see what Konami announces, regardless.

Where's a Suikoden Collection, Konami? Yes, I know that you can buy 2/3rds of the localized franchise on the PS3 (not counting Tierkreis), but they very awkwardly stopped after IV. A collection with all five games plus Tactics would be really nice. But they probably won't put the effort in to make that.

Especially since they'd probably be pressured to actually fix the translation and bugs in Suikoden II.

Whenever Konami is trying to exploit their old IPs, it should always be mentioned what absolute bastards they were to the people who actually made those games not long ago, even preventing them from being employed by anyone else.

Something to think about before raking over the cash for a couple of emulator packages.

The Asia import version has a few licensing issues as well. They use the American names for some of the characters in the English translation. Sorry if that bothers people.

To keep import costs low I recommend looking towards Amazon Japan. It's very cheap to ship games to America from them. You don't also have to rely on the English-speaking Asian markets for translations and those middle-man websites that mark up prices. Sometimes the Japanese version of a game also has an English option. Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 Scarlet and Chocobo's Dungeon Every Buddy have English options on the Japanese Nintendo Switch releases I noticed when I picked them up a few days ago. As far as Switch games go, a number of them have been shipping in Japan with English options. Unfortunately Super Robot Wars is not one of them in this case.

This event is specifically talking about Kojima. Considering the bad blood between them it is to be expected. Kojima is not as innocent as you think he is. You might be surprised to know Kojima is most likely the reason why Konami has abandoned a lot of older game series. He was pushing for Konami to focus on the western market. Games that sold poorly there like Suikoden and Goemon were abandoned because of this. He may also be behind why Konami decided to outsource the Akumajou Dracula (Castlevania) series to western studios and turn it into an action game.

No, it isn't.

On top of what I linked to before about them preventing ex-employees from being hired elsewhere in the industry (people who are not Kojima), it has been known for quite some time now how they treated employees before doing anything to Kojima.

While not a recalled game, I remember back in 1999 or so when the US release of Macross Digital Mission VF-X2 was suddenly cancelled most likely due to Harmony Gold.

Sega does one of these surveys every year or two. Fans of Panzer Dragoon and Skies of Arcadia often make a good showing, though Sakura Wars wins when Japanese fans are included.

Have had an account with Amazon.co.jp for years now. I've bought a fair amount of game music, artbooks, and other things from them (including a console game or two). Them and/or CDJapan are typically the first places I go to for media imports. CDJ was actually the first place I looked for this new SRW game, in part because I picked up the Japanese Switch versions of I Am Setsuna and Nightshade there, but since their listing didn't say anything about an English translation (and Todd specifically mentioned the Asian version), I went to YesAsia next. Good looking out, though Smile

Isn't that just typical Non-compete agreements stuff? Companies do that in the US too.

Why would you want that? Vita is ancient. Even the lowest end phones of like 2016 are stronger than the Vita and are compatible with gamepads while also being able to be streamed to a TV

Non-compete agreements generally only last so long (like two or three years). We're talking about life time employees here, and either way, what happened here goes beyond reason.
